Here's how my threadless loves Revolution wip is going, what do you think? Comments welcome

added glowing eyes

Also, for all those who know more about photoshop than I, I need a little help. I've drawn some images in chalk pastel and scanned them to use in my design. What I need to figure out is a way of maintaining the small smudgy details, but be able to change it's colour. Is there a way of doing this other than blending modes? I hope that's clear.

This is the original scan of the horse.

Any help on either would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Updated with Mr Bad Guy.

The face was made by collaging lots of face bits from photos of myself and friends then halftoning it. I'm not sure whether to leave the face as is, or if it looks too realistic for the piece. Any ideas welcome.

thats pretty crazy, so unlike your other work. I like it, not sure how i feel about the face portion. But ill wait til the finished design is ready.

Jean- I may try a few alternate faces just to see. I can't decide if I like it as is or not.

Hopefully people don't think that chelly-I can't really see what you mean, but that's probably because i've been looking at it for so long.

you must work with channels
select the channel of the horse on a brand new psd, then fill it with the colour you want, so you'ill keep every little details.

Wow, that is just like....wow.

The effect you are doing is nothing short than extremely stunning. I think the placement oft he horse is fine. My only issue is that i really don't like the face on the warrior. But that might just be me. I'd still 5$ this baby based on the bottom portion and the concept and the style alone, and is the PERFECT thing i've wanted to see out of this kind of contest.

UPDATE- stage 4

I've changed the face to a skull, which looks better. I've also added in a few more elements and tweaked the colours slightly.

have you tryed maybe just hinting at eyes....kinda glowing...the skull is cool because it is kinda hard to notice just wonder if it would have the same effect on the shirt

Yeah AC, i'd bump up the opacity of the skull slightly if it were to get printed, but i've left it low for screens.

Did you mean hinting at eyes inside the skull or instead of it?

maybe i slight glowing in the skulls eyes and maybe tilting it because it seems it is kind to straight up and down for the gesture of the warrior

I second the slightly glowing eyeballs, like light is only hitting into them and nothing else on the face. Looking superber than before.

skull looks much better then the face.

what do you plan on doing with the warriors? have you tried designing them like you did the skull? obviously they would be vectored, unless you found stock images of crazy barbarians....

A lot of energy and movement, cool!
The skulls looks good, but it feels different from the rest of the elements. If it looked more hand drawn it might blend better with the rest of it, if the edges on skull had the charcoal smudgy look it would blend better, just a thought.

This is pretty much complete now.

I've worked in some glowing eyes- do you reckon they're good? I quite like them actually, but I had to tone them down a bit as they attracted too much attention away from the rest of the design.
