Has anybody seen this show (actually it is more a documentary) Is it popular in the USA? I just love it, I really like the guys that own the tattoo place. It makes me want to tattoo myself, but i'm afraid I'd get bored of anything I would tattoo on myself, besides I HATE needdles!.

OK, first you ask if "Miami" is popular in the US and now you question my word swoon.

Petanca on Jul 06 '07 at 1:13pm
I think it's expensive, once a guy said he sold his car to get a huge tattoo in the back. The guys are really good, though.

(the guys on the show are handsome)

Canadian, I asked if Miami INK was popular in US.
And swoon means nothing to me,alfawegcr

OK, yes it is a top show.

Swoon is what girls do over rock stars etc. Like passing out.

Ami James is a HUNKA HUNKA burnin' LOVE!

I used to watch it, but only because of Kat Von D. Now that she's gone, I have no real interest anymore, besides Chris Garver.

Where are watching it, Pentaca? yes, they are interviewing Kat's replacement over a series of shows.

They seem to working on a lot of Canadians!

Kat has left the show...

...but she's getting her own show! Woo hoo!
Petanca
Petanca on Jul 06 '07 at 1:22pm
I'm in Spain.

Kat is from NY, isn't she? In the last chapter I saw she was planning on leaving but then her friends came and she decided she was going to stay.

I used to watch it but I sort of tailed off. I HATE how they say the same thing every two minutes. "I'm getting this tattoo in honour of my father, he was in the navy... Yeah, I'm getting an anchor because my dad just died and he was a sailor... It's nautical-themed because my dad was..." seriously, shut up. I get it already.

They do it on a lot of American programmes though, so maybe you guys don't notice.

She does stick around for about another season, but creative differences with some of the other guys made it awkward for her to stay. But apparently her new shop in Los Angeles is almost done and shooting for 'LA Ink' will begin soon. Hurray!

Petanca on Jul 06 '07 at 1:26pm
loserbeech, is true what you say, but still, I love to see how the guys work and the tattoos really look awesome, even if a lot of the themes are cliche
Petanca
Petanca on Jul 06 '07 at 1:27pm
alright, she was from LA. creative differences? i thought they liked her style.

hahah yeah I love that show!
but I dont get to see it much...
squintygirl
squintygirl on Jul 06 '07 at 1:31pm
They do like her style, but because she's so specialized in what she does, some of the guys thought she was being snobby by refusing to do other tattoos in styles that aren't her strengths. It was weird, especially since Ami has refused a million times to do Christian-themed tattoos, but whatever. I guess everyone will be happier, now.

Chris Garver, though, was always the gentleman, and defended her to the end. Good man!

I see, I think another good thing about the show is that it feels so natural, they don't act in front of the camera.

It's one of my new favorite shows nowadays. Isn't it funny what creeps come along too? Last episodes I saw involved a devil worshiper who got a Goats head Antichrist symbol, and some 80 year old lady who wanted an identification mark in case of death by hurricane.

So weird.

I love that show.

The repetitiveness annoys the crap out of me too, Nicola!

I like seeing the process of doing a tattoo from start to finish. It's cool. One day I will get a tattoo. If I ever have something printed by Threadless I will make that design my first Tattoo. HA.

This is the funny part
(taken from wikipedia)
The artists on the show are only there during tapings. In order to be tattooed by these artists, customers need to apply on TLC.com

The only time they actually do tattoos at the shop is for the show. Otherwise they don't really work together.
Christoph Jenkins
Christoph Jenkins on Jul 07 '07 at 5:51pm
Yeah, but I bet they get alot of applications, so they get about 3-5 days a week of it. They always say it's 'busy down at the shop', and I don;t really think they're lying.
squeegebeckenheim
squeegebeckenheim on Jul 07 '07 at 5:52pm
Yeah, they have other artists that work at the shop.
