Pro Tip: There will be an Earth Fest at the Hatch Shell on Saturday. It is free, outdoors, and has music from Soul Asylum and the Lemonheads, among others. 90s throwback goodness for no money!
Also, it's worth strolling through the commons, browsing Fanieul Hall (spelling? I'm native, and I can't even spell that damn thing) and Newbury Street, and heading up to Cambridge on the Red Line and exploring Harvard or Central Square (or even finding your way up to Porter or Davis in Somerville).
If this doesn't float your boat, it's freakin' boston. you'll find something to do.
Wat are you rehtarded?! If yar goin' ta Boston there are several things ya hafta do!
Ya gotta go to Fenway and watch the SAWKS tear any team a new asshole! GO SAWKS!
Then, you need to find some homeless guy who's over 21 to buy you some booze. Next, you get wicked pissa' drunk!!!!!
Find some late night spot to get some claaaaaaam chowda after yar all fucked up on Jag and Whiskey. Vommit all over the streets...don't worry, it's Boston, a city full of the Irish, you won't be the first to do this.
Now hit up the closest Dunkin' Donuts, find a fat kid, and get him to stick his Long John up in your donut hole all night long! YA KNOW WHAT I'M SAYIN!
yeah, you'll probably want to do the public garden/Boston common, Newbury St. and Harvard Square... Faneuil Hall/Quincy Market is a tourist trap and kinda sucks, but you might want to go. Oh, and it's swan boat season in the public garden, that's kinda cute, or you can just walk around.
Where are you staying / why are you going?
I can recommend places near pretty much any T stop, not sure where to start.
tealuxe for tea in Harvard Sq or Newbury St. The Newbury Street one does salads and sandwiches too and has outdoor seating. Boston Tea Stop in Harvard Sq is the best bubble tea I've ever had. good mochi ice cream and pork dumplings too. There's a ton of stuff to do in Harvard Square. The Paramount on Charles Street (which you should definitely walk around, it's your classic old-timey brick street rich Boston area) has a good breakfast Jacob Wirth in the theatre district is the second-oldest restaurant in Boston, they do a hearty meal. Finale in Boston, Harvard, or Coolidge Corner has awesome desserts. Coolidge Corner (Brookline) is a chill neighborhood to check out, the Coolidge theatre is really nice. Emma's for pizza in Kendall Sq, which is right near the Kendall movie theatre, one of the best for independent movies Diesel Cafe in Davis Sq has good baked goods, coffee, tea, sammiches, salads... and pool tables. Davis has another one of the best movie theatres around in the Somerville Theatre, which has the Museum of Bad Art in the basement. also Redbones in Davis for barbecue/southern food.
For ice cream, there's JP Licks on Newbury St, Davis, Harvard, other places... Toscanini's is some of the best ice cream, that's in Central Sq, also home to the Middle East (music venue/restaurant).
You should go to Veggie Planet in Harvard Square and bum around museums. Seriously I'm shocked no one has mentioned that the only worthwhile thing to do in Boston, besides eat food outside and watch crazy panhandlers/douchey college kids/townies, is go to museums. MFA has old art, ICA has new art, the Science Museum has science and so does the MIT museum. There's also weird specialty museums at Harvard like the Warren Anatomical Museum which has some cool specimens...So yeah. Museums.
I was just at the Somerville (St. Vincent show, dontcha know) and I stumbled upon the museum of bad art, and immediately I wished I'd known about it early enough to have gone and visited before the show.
Also, I quite recommend the little Tibetan restaurant off Davis, based on that little jaunt.
You know, people always say that, but I've never felt grease-sick after eating there. I never get cheese or anything on mine though so maybe it's worse that way.
