How to wash shirts?

Whats the best way to wash shirts to keep them from fading/shrinking. Cold water + inside out?

yes, inside out and don't put them in the dryer.

i ruined a shirt by not doing this. it was a very sad day.

I don't wash mine in any special way, and sometimes not at all. They're all doing fine, and for some it's been as long as a 21 months and going strong.

I hand wash all of my shirts in warm water. I throw them in the washer and let them do the final spin setting to get most of the water out. They are they draped over the back of a chair or hung outside depending on the weather.

I walk to the nearest source of water with all of my shirts in a basket over my head. Once I get there, I put each shirt in the water for about two minutes. After that, I rub them over my naked body until I get a rash (this usually lasts about 15 minutes). Then I walk home naked.

the darker colors are more noticeable when it comes to fading, that is why i don't get dark colors anymore.

I wash inside out in cold water then dry. Mine have all shrunk, but they fit me better than way anyways.

By dry, I mean tumble dry on high heat in the dryer.

I have noticed lots of fading in my darker shirts with the first several washings as well. So, wash dark colored shirts alone for a wash or two.

yeah... cold water is best to prevent the shirt from shrinking. It doesn't really matter if it is inside-out, except in the dryer. It helps keeps the image from rubbing off, as it is tumbling around.

A couple other tips - don't overfill your washing machine. doing a super-large load is bad for your clothes (they don't get cleaned as well) as well as for the washer, itself.

Also, do not dry in excess. That shrinks it further, also. High heat is fine because the shirt is cotton, which is resilient fiber. Moreover, the dryer uses a lot of energy, which is bad for the environment.

i miss when the shirts had fake washing instructions on the insides of them.
