this is the best post-k tee shirt i have seen. it is lovely and subtle, something most if not all of the others lack.

but i just have to say...

... i live in new orleans, before and after katrina, and i don't know if it is the right decision to give this money to the red cross. are you sure they are the best organization to donate to?

first of all, they already have tons and tons of money.

secondly, the only "aid" i saw all the millions of donated dollars to the red cross coming down to the people of new orleans was in the form of agressive trucks with meat-only meals (often hot dogs with no buns) and highly sugared, processed food, driving around the streets and being very mean to you if you did not want to take their food. but the few times i ate it it made me sick. there is enough in nola to make the people sick, in the air and water, without feeding them food which is more or less not food.

there are grass roots organizations, legitimate non-profits just like the red cross, operating free medical clinics on shoe string budgets, i think they could use this money a lot more than the red cross. the people down here need doctors, not hot dogs!

i just had to say that, but let me reiterate, it is a great shirt and a great idea.

I know the Red Cross has probably more than its fair share of problems, but they helped a lot of people out during Katrina. You may have just seen them handing out free food, but I saw a lot of people living off of Red Cross credit cards after Katrina, where all of the supplies they needed were taken care of by the Red Cross. And don't you think it would be better to give a lot of people what might not be the best food possible than to give only a few more expensive meals?

I don't know, and that comment was a long time ago, but they should really reprint this.
