i know!! i'm dying for it!! part of me is sooooo excited and part of me is experiencing anxiety knowing this is the last season!! i love that scene above when jacob says "what about you?" to ben. it's so great.
i think some people don't like shows that you have to think about to really enjoy. sure lost is an entertaining show regardless, but to really appreciate it you gotta put some effort into understanding it.
to an extent, yeah. i think there's deeper connections that are there for the audience to dig into if they want. it doesn't really connect any dots though, in the show. at best, it just gives some background as to why a particular with a particular name is doing what they're doing in the show. the show's still cool if you like mystery. plain and simple. it has a little more comedy in it now, and it's always had that basic dramatic element most every show has.
but i think you're right, in that, people don't want to have to think. especially american audiences at large. we tend to want to have everything connected, wrapped up nicely and neatly. and lost is anything but that.
everything you said is why LOST is great. i love shows that require me to think and fantasize about what the next week's episode will bring. don't get me wrong, i enjoy some mindless humor occasionally as well, but if i'm going to watch an hour long "drama" i want it to be something special.
Stumpz, your LOST seems to get better every time i look at it! I keep hearing that sound when the island keeps on moving last season more and more emanating from the picture.
As for other shows, I find almost everything on TV sub-par and just a waste of time. I want something that shows me new things or challenges my brain in daring new ways, whether it be a drama, mystery, comedy, thriller-type show. Keep surprising me dammit! It's so funny how many shows some people watch a week, there's just not enough of anything i really wanna follow on a week to week basis. It's the same feeling I had when i saw the first trailer of that new flick Law Abiding Citizen, I was like, who wants to see bullshit like that? and then i heard how many people at work couldn't wait to watch that. How is watching some dude hack people to death in different yet completely predictable ways holding people's interest and getting their money for a night at the movies? lol, tangent about people's easily entertained brains making most of Hollywood slack their asses off because they don't have to work any harder, sorry.
Then There's TV shows I'm just gonna watch on DVD like Mad Men, It's always Sunny in Philadelphia, Breaking Bad, etc.
I know what you mean about other shows on TV as well as the majority of people's opinions on movies. I guess that's why there is so much variety! Everyone has a different taste. Unfortunately the majority of people like crap. Other than LOST I think the only shows I regularly watch are Ghost Hunters and It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. Aside from that there really isn't anything I get sad about missing, and Ghost Hunters is something that Amanda has just gotten me into over the past year.
i am thinking we'll work our way through the other 4 seasons and then do a weekend Season 5 marathon leading up to the Season 6 premiere. However, if you guys want to do a marathon of as many as we can starting with Season 1, I am up for it any time!!
cool shirt'!! i'm glad to get your quick weigh-in on Twin Peaks!! I had heard that about David Lynch leaving the show and it going a little off but I am really excited to start it!!
I’ve been really out of the loop with Lost, due to my crazy work schedule, and I’m never up to watch tv when good shows are on…
Until I got Netflix. I am on the second season of Lost and I am soooo sucked in. I’m wasting my life away, because I can’t turn it off! It’s such a great show :)
It's only going to be on the second-string digital channel here. No one cares. I very nearly gave up when they were shifting through time but I stuck with it and it got less ridiculous but don't think the rest of the viewers did.
