and the winner is....

ANGELITO!!!!

Congratulations Angelito for winning the International Mishmash Blogger Contest!! All of the entries were amazing and it was a very tough competition! The judges had their work cut out for them and it wasn't an easy decision. Everyone had very genuine entries that reflected their personalities but unfortunately we couldn't make everyone the big winner.

HOWEVER!!! All of the other contestants will be receiving an excellent prize pack filled with goodies!! I know it's not a trip but it's not half bad either!!

I've emailed everyone but if you didn't receive the email please send me your mailing address so we can get those prizes to you! stumpyhorse@gmail.com

also, a very BIG THANK YOU!!! to everyone who donated and contributed to this contest!! such as:
jrmasm, cbuchholz, chelly, sonmi, valorandvellum, martiandrivein, craig shimala, speedyjvw, pilihp, angelito, funkie fresh, ladykat, backtozero, i know i'm missing a couple of people!, and everyone who made purchases from the bloggeraiser etsy store!!!

lastly, i will leave it up to each entrant whether they want to share their entries with everyone or not. i'm sure a lot of people would love to see them but i will let each of you decide for yourself if you want to post it.

FUND TRACKER: $1120.00!!!!! (updated 8/11 @ 8am!!! HOLY COW!!!)

So far these people have told me they are entering the contest:

Amelia Tang (Singapore)
Adrienne Pitts (London)
Eva Sbaraini (London-ish)
Daniel Amos (Australia)
Pascal (Eskimokiss)
Samuel Lara (Label)

Hello everyone!!! Well, the suspense is finally over! The collective community of Threadless artists are going to hold a contest to try to get an international blogger to the Autumn Mishmash in Chicago!! That's right!!

If you are overseas dreaming about coming to the party you will finally have a chance to have your voice heard and have it mean something! Various artists and contributors to Threadless are making donations of items to be sold or auctioned on the internet in an effort to raise enough money to at least pay one lucky person's airfair to get the mishmash. i am extremely confident that we will be able to achieve this goal!

also, if you are a blogger in either canada or mexico, you obviously do not live overseas but could still be in the same financial pinch!! all i ask is that you be reasonable if you enter the contest because if your flight is just as inexpensive as a U.S. flight it defeats the purpose of the contest. THANKS!!

How do i get the money?

STEP 1:
Send me an email telling me that you plan to enter and where you are located so i can start to get an idea of what our goal should be!!

STEP 2:
You must submit a "This is why i deserve to go to the Mishmash" argument. It can be in any creative form as long as it can be displayed on the internet. Video, essay (5oo words or less please), photo montage, storyboards... YOU NAME IT!! Just BE CREATIVE!! You must make your submission to me at stumpyhorse@gmail.com to be considered. Once i receive your entry it will be dispersed to a panel of 5 judges including bloggers and threadless staff that will help to decide the winner!

THE DEADLINE for entry is August 12 @ midnight U.S. central standard time. Entries are due at this time but sales may continue for an additional week to rustle up some more cash!

STEP 3:
You have to promote these sales because they are what is getting the money!! You also must keep up to date on updates because throughout the week more donations will be getting posted and links to sales and auctions will be found in this blog! Here is what we have so far:

*SHIMALA'S T-SHIRTS can be purchased at the ETSY Store that is located HERE!!
(I just finished posting all of Craig's shirts and realized that i didn't include the size in the listing. I will correct this later but since i've been doing this for the past 3 hours i'll probably wait until tomorrow. THEY ARE ALL GUY'S LARGE)

* MARTIANDRIVEIN'S AUCTION!!!! Go to it HERE!!

* ITEMS FOR SALE!! Wonderful Threadless Artist's prints and handmade goods can be purchased at the ETSY Store that is located HERE!!

* There are also items for sale at the Tasty Treats ETSY Store that will benefit the contest!! HERE!!

* Aubrey Nichole Designs at ETSY will also be contributing from her sales!! HERE!!

* There are also items for sale at my personal ETSY Store HERE!!

* MORE SHIRTS For Sale HERE!!

* EVEN MORE SHIRTS For Sale HERE!!

There are also numerous sale and auctions that will be getting posted later this afternoon and throughout the week!! So please check back!!! Plus, if you want to contribute please email me at the above listed email!! Anything that can help will be appreciated!!

I know there will be many questions and a couple of additions later this afternoon, but i wanted to at least get this out there and get international bloggers thinking about their entries.

Since i am at work i may not respond right away but there will be a flood of responses and additions when i get off work!!!
GOOD LUCK!!!!

IF YOU DON"T SEE THIS ON THE FRONT PAGE GIVE IT A BUMP!!!

Man, I'd love to enter but I don't have much time between now and then to put together something truly creative and convincing. I could knock up an essay, but this place deserves to go to someone who spends that extra time and imagination on their argument.

Good luck to the entrants though, and a great idea guys, really thoughtful.

also, perhaps we should clarify that overseas could also apply to canada
(???)
jstumpenhorst
   jstumpenhorst on Jul 24 '07 at 10:38am
hmmm... i don't know about canada. i guess depending on where you are at you could argue that there are more expensive and longer flights from places in the U.S.

i didn't really think about that one chelly.

priscilla: i'll have to ask people to tell me if they plan to enter. so far there doesn't appear to be too many, as chelly noted.

Hrmm.. how long do we have to make something to put in? Also do these things have to be threadless tees or something we made? Just figuring out the requirements of donated items.

P.S. wheres Shimala selling/auctioning off those archive shirts?? I want some! hehe

YAY!!! Thanks for buyin Telaine! I'll send out moon milk right away!

I was going to auction off a vat of REAL moon milk, but NASA snatched it from me right before I got to snap a picture of it.

I would like to make a fine cheese out of moon milk.
cbuchholz
   cbuchholz on Jul 24 '07 at 11:55am
I'm afraid that's not the best idea valor. Moon cheese actually glows in the dark. Can you imagine what glow in the dark pizza would do for the childhood obesity rate? It would be off the charts.
angelito
angelito on Jul 24 '07 at 11:55am
Anyone have any idea what they would pay for a print of this:

Day 72 | Friday 15 June 2007

I'm gonna give Jared a print to put in the etsy store... Around 8x10 size?

valorandvellum
   valorandvellum on Jul 24 '07 at 12:15pm
True, the children would get fatter... but think of all the money you save on electricity bills! Who needs light bulbs when you have glow in the dark cheese for lighting??

Yes, I've heard of the glowing cheese effect. It's an incredibly sought after skill. Just make sure you use your powers for good and not evil! And don't let the power go to your head!

p.s. I'll return an email in a wee bit

Jstumpen, I'm about as far away from chicago you can be coming from canada, I'm over in Saskatchewan

My flights going to be about 7 hours (I have a lay over in toronto) and my flights cost about $600.

Now to me thats not too bad it was just under £300 but to americans and canadians thats alot of money.

Just to make it clear I'm not asking for any kind of help, I was going to this anyway I was just pointing out that in some places in canada its going to cost as much to fly from canada to chicago as it is from the UK.

Having said that i think most of the canadians live near the toronto area so it probably isnt justifiable.

I think you should probably take it as a case by case basis.
jstumpenhorst
   jstumpenhorst on Jul 24 '07 at 12:57pm
thanks for the info stubby! you are absolutely right. i wasn't trying to say it was cheap to fly from anywhere in canada. i realize it is can still be expensive, as you've described. you are right though, we should take it on a case by case basis. once again, i appreciate the info!!
