I bought this T the first day of the sale and the new girly T's are a little tighter around the waist. I could hide this normally with a zip-up hoodie or cardigan but I also want to show off the design on this T so I'm kind of stuck. (All of the larger sizes are sold out) Unless I really go for the 1880's look and buy a corset... hmmm

That all being said I'm still super excited that I got one - the embroidery looks great!

I'm now going to do sit ups until I can wear this T. . .

I have new size woe's too..... I decided to try the Girly 2XL for the first time. I can fit snugly into a Girly L, normally order a XL but i decided to try 2XL for the additional width room.

The width if the T-shirt seems OK.... The LENGTH is attrocious ! The old XL tee rested a bit below the waist band of my pants. The new Threadless 2XL tee extends all the way to wrap over my butt. With the design at the bottom of the tee thats a huge problem. I almost CRIED when i tried it on this morning ! Esp. b/c i know i can't just come back online and order another size since its sold out.

I also think the new tees are very thin material and I'm not a fan of that either. I may try to shrink it in the dryer or sew it into a new shirt as a last resort.

Anyone else have size-issues with the new tees? If all "threadless tees" are of this quality i'll have to order a good stock of old "AA" tees and then stop shopping :(

they are definitely longer than the old ones. The torso seems to be accommodating more for a mans figure than a female figure who typically have a shorter torso.

I vote for the corset

They are definitely slimmer around the waist. For me, I like that, because I don't like baggy shirts, but I could see it being a problem for some if they don't like a tighter fit.

I did notice, however, that the black "Graphic Endeavors" shirt was a bit larger out of the package than the other new shirts I've purchased...

I was a little frustrated because on the sizing charts it looks as if they should be identical to the old T's in width and when I put it on, eep! that was not the case. Oh well, lesson learned and I know to order Girly XL next time.
I don't mind the thinner material (so far, I haven't washed it yet) and I really like the thinner collar.

mllesatine on Mar 21 '08 at 9:10am
Yes, I absolutely love the thinner collar.

If you look at the girl product shot for this one, or especially the Pinata design, you can see the very LONG length on girly tees. I was going to order Pinata today but I just can't do it !! :(

I'm going to order all the old AA tees in my cart & wait to see if they ever change their sizing.

Threadless I love you guys, but if the shirt doesnt fit, I dont wear it !

oneitis on Mar 21 '08 at 10:35am
Are they really that long? I'm only 5'2 ft .. :/
I ordered Existential Clutter 2 days ago, and I really didn't know whether to order XL or 2XL. I decided to go for XL because that's what my AA shirts are, and they fit well.
But if it's going to be tighter, I don't know ... ahh, the woes.

i have yet to get a new tee with the threadless shirt, but i'm really excited to see the longer fit. i order girly smalls but i always need to wear a tank top underneath them because they aren't long enough. maybe they can suffice on their own now.

a friend of mine had a problem w/ the girly sizing chart being even close to correct as far as the chest area

i'm finding the men's L to be an awkward fit that only sometimes is fixed by hot wash/dry

I think my plan will be to order a girly XL and see if that helps, then next I'll try a guys S- unless I actually start an abs of steel workout program. . . eeeh nah
funkysub
funkysub on Mar 24 '08 at 9:38pm
Why are the new girly tees so much longer? Who wants the t-shirt to sit more than half-way down their hips? (and why did they get longer without getting wider? makes it impossible to just size down to fix the length.) The American Apparel XL length was so much better.
oneitis
oneitis on Mar 24 '08 at 9:46pm
funkysub, how tall are you? Cause AA is already halfway down my hips. :/
kathee88
kathee88 on Mar 24 '08 at 9:46pm
I agree with funkysub. The new threadless girl shirts are uncomfortably long. A shirt that fits this snug should be a few inches shorter.
funkysub
funkysub on Mar 24 '08 at 10:30pm
I'm about 5'4", with a fairly average length torso. And I just don't understand what I'm supposed to do with the extra two inches or so (pulled all the way down the new shirts cover a good 2-3 inches of my thigh). I'm okay with a little scrunching but this is ridiculous. I hope these shrink up a bit in length only when I wash them.
straw8erry333
straw8erry333 on Mar 25 '08 at 9:12am
I'm 5'6" with a somewhat longer torso and I love the extra length but because of the length the shirt gets to my hips and that's when I have the problem with it being too tight and pretty unflattering. Most designs it wouldn't matter, I could throw a cardigan over it... but with this Tee it won't work.
oneitis
oneitis on Mar 25 '08 at 9:18am
Ah, alright .. :/ .. well, I'll wait for my first Threadless tee to arrive, and then I'll see whether I like it or not, and whether I should keep ordering XL or or go up a size. (Except that 2XL would probably really go over my bum length-wise ... oh man)

   ndstillie on Mar 26 '08 at 5:34am
yeah my girlfriend has the same problem with the placement/length. If this were ever to reprint i would definitely rally for a more centered placement on the girlie shirts
valeriieee
valeriieee on Mar 26 '08 at 10:16am
i was actually going to start this exact topic when i got the shirt myself, but never had the time and now you've beat me to it! anyway, i agree entirely... it's looong and tight around the waist. NOT flattering at all. it kind of folds up near the bottom because of the extra length, hiding a good portion of the image, and as my fiance said, "it just looks like he's really short."

I LOVE this shirt, and i'm totally bummed that it doesn't love me back. :(

s0da on Mar 26 '08 at 11:11pm
I had the same problem here, I bought a girly large, my usual size, assuming it would fit nicely. When I put it on, it barely fit. I'm talking like, a serious squeeze here. I don't even believe that it's a large.

I'm really dissapointed because I was so excited about this shirt, and now it's pretty much sold out of anything that COULD fit me.
straw8erry333
straw8erry333 on Mar 27 '08 at 10:42am
I found a sweater that could go over it and I'd just button the first button and the bottom could hang open. But that still covers the embroidery. Curses!

If anyone figures out a good solution to this problem let me know... in the meantime I'll be corset shopping.

I'm really quite literally bummed about this. The new reprints I'm interested in will likely all be printed on this "fabulous new tee" and I'm just not going to spend $17 on a shirt I know I won't wear because of how crazy it fits. And that makes me sad, because Threadless has so much to offer (when it's instock)!
skeletondance
skeletondance on Mar 31 '08 at 12:10pm
I just ordered a bunch of shirts last week and they have yet to arrive, but I'm worried that they'll be tighter and longer.

AA small fits me just right. AA medium fits me well, but I don't like the length either. (I'm quite short, also 5'2".)

For the new Threadless shirts, I still chose small and now I'm worried they won't fit, and would be longer. :\
straw8erry333
straw8erry333 on Mar 31 '08 at 12:54pm
berrynoir is right, the kid's T's might work really well for you if the AA small fit you well before.

I might switch to guys T's for the little extra width if I ever buy one with a design on the bottom again. In the meantime I'm wearing this one as a tight nightshirt, hoping that it might stretch out over time.

veganrabbit on Mar 31 '08 at 1:02pm
@Robin, I'm so glad I'm not crazy. I just got the Pinata one and think it's crazy long. Butt-wrapping long is right.

I thought about trying to shrink it, but it's pretty snug already.

berrynoir on Mar 31 '08 at 6:58pm
Posting what I posted in Pinata blog for size:
Ok, just did a comparison of my girly M AA's and the new Threadless girly M:
The Threadless shirts are longer by a couple inches.
Whereas the AA shirts hit my hips, the Threadless shirts do extend all the way down over the butt. And snug too - so you have a rather tight tee around your ass.
I'm 5'4 and about 110lbs if that helps.
Also worth noting, out of the 3 new Threadless shirts I've ordered, one has a hole in it and all three are slightly different in the shoulders/arms/chest area. They are also rather see-though in lighter colors. Haven't washed 'em yet....

straw8erry333
straw8erry333 on Apr 07 '08 at 8:41am
I fixed it- When I washed my shirt I stretched it out sideways. That shortened it a few inches and went back to the width I was used to. Now the design can be seen without the guy's legs being all bunched up.

This will only work for someone who wants more width though. So skinny girls who like the closer fit will still be stuck with long T's. Sorry.

Now the question is do I continue ordering this size and do this to all my T's everytime I wash them? I guess I'll order a guys S next time and see how that works out.

Not to side-track this thread, but if anyone needs to be convinced of how LOOOOONG the new Tee is you could check out the photo of this tee I uploaded. The bottom hem of the shirt falls quite a few inches below my butt.

Please let me know if you all figure out a better size to buy in the new tees !! For now I'm too scared to place an order and am resigned to keeping my old tees in rotation !
straw8erry333
straw8erry333 on Apr 07 '08 at 8:02pm
Nope that's not side-tracking at all - it was kind of my point from the beginning, it's difficult to wear this low of a print on the new T's because they are sooo long. That's why I'm a little worried about buying 'Liberty' but I'm encouraged that my stretching experiment worked perfectly for me.
berrynoir
berrynoir on Apr 08 '08 at 12:09am
I guess stretching it is - I wish they could make them either a little shorter or a little wider at the bottom - mid-hip length, perfect...slight flare towards the bottom, perfect. Vacuum-packed onto my ass...not so much.

i wish they were an inch and a half shorter. sigh
phyntosia
phyntosia on Apr 09 '08 at 6:14pm
Hmmm, I like them exactly as they are - I like the longer tees, I like the fact that the Threadless tees are a little baggier on the torso but fit snugly around my butt... however I do see a big problem for low-placement designs. Even with AA, I prefer middle/top placement actually... the only low-placement shirt I really have is Strange Birds, which annoys me a bit since whenever I wear a zip-up sweatshirt (i.e. most of the time) it hides the design. Not that that's relevant to the length of the shirt, but just a reason I'm less a fan of the lower placement.

And today I just ordered Liberty... now I'm a little worried it will be all weird since the tee is likely to bunch up a bit at the bottom.

!! :(
Vindemiatrix
Vindemiatrix on Apr 09 '08 at 6:20pm
Oh crap. This doesn't augur well for me.

I already think AA is too long. I was pleased about the idea of the new tees being a more fitted shape, because the AA tees are snug on my chest and hips but retardedly loose around my waist, but if the truth is just that they're smaller all over... lame. Laaaame.
berrynoir
berrynoir on Apr 09 '08 at 8:21pm
Good point about Liberty. For me, I have the same "hourglass" problem as Vindemiatrix - with both the AA and Threadless brand they're tight around the chest and hips and baggy in the middle. Of course we all come in different shapes and sizes but I think AA is already kinda crazy with their sizing (as I said, I weigh about 110lbs or 49kg) and only the large isn't pretty tight. I also can wear a Kids 8, so go figure - AA thinks a large girl is the size of an 8 year old. Now the new shirts are slimmer and longer. I too am worried that a beautiful new $40 Select is going to be an indistinguishable puddle around my hips.

This thread really dampens my spirits for future ordering... I'm 5'2" (and ergo have a shorter-than-most torso), and despise how all tees on the market these days go past my butt I don't want to have to start hemming my Threadless tees, or not being able to buy awesome belt prints 'cause of the ridiculous length! I loved the old AA Girly S tees, which fit me perfectly length-wise. Boo.

Does anybody know how the new XS fits?
oneitis
oneitis on Apr 13 '08 at 7:13pm
hey auxocrome, I feel your pain, I'm only 5'2 as well. And I'm not exactly skinny either, so I have to buy Girly XL, which is even longer!
I have only one of the new shirts so far, and it's really too long, it covers up my entire bum. BUT I hope I'll be able to somehow stretch it out after the first wash, so that it'll be shorter and wider. Maybe you can do the same?
_lydia
_lydia on Apr 13 '08 at 7:46pm
I like longish shirts, but the new shirts really do seem to be like a long tube. I don't have huge hips, but they could at least allow for some hippage. I either tuck them into jeans/skirts etc (yes i am a nerd) or i have to have this slouch effect thing goin on.
Robin.NJ
Robin.NJ on Apr 14 '08 at 10:05am
I'm about to try making my 2nd purchase of a new threadless tee to get a final verdict on the sizing problem..... I am staying away from designs with print at the bottom like "I love 18(80s)" and Liberty.....

Maybe a print only on the chest will help bc a print at the point where the tee is "vacuum suctioned" to my hips /ass really doesnt do alot for me..... Not unless i'm attending a Curvy-ass convention and want to flaunt my figure for the masses.
V1ctorya
V1ctorya on Apr 14 '08 at 10:19am
Yeah for curvy ass conventions!

The only thing I hate about shirts covering asses is when you sit down and it pulls the shirt and can choke you at the neck depending upon factors I don't care to divulge at this point in time.

But, I like long baggy shirts myself, though fear washing the new ones, as they fit fineish now, but don't want them to shrink.

berrynoir
berrynoir on Apr 14 '08 at 8:09pm
Amen to that, Lydia! I just got Liberty today. It's gorgeous. Until I put it on. Then the fact that it hits MID-THIGH pretty much ruins the effect. Oddly enough, I got a medium in this, and a medium in another shirt and a large on Freeloading (cause I needed the footsies - and YAY! Footsies. And just barely, too...). They are all the new Threadless tees. And they all fit totally differently. That medium Liberty is about 2.5 inches longer than the large Freeloading, and 3 inches longer than the other medium (Lochness Imposter). WTF?
