of course the fact that they are in tuxes in the trailer is probably what sparked the penguin flame. then i got to thinking about how we often wish for something impractical even though it really wouldn't work out too well if we got that wish a.k.a. college girls are o.k. when you are in college, but not when it is time to be a father. i mean, there are not really too many fish in the sky for penguins to eat anyway (except when that rare phenomenon occurs where it rains fish from the sky, but the chance of that phenomenon lining up with the phenomenon of a flying penguin are,I hope, even less likely than me winning this contest).
i called it "they mate for life" because of the line in the movie where she is defending marriage based on the idea that ducks mate for life. people like to believe in that even though, as you may have read in my comments, it may not be the true reality. it is the traditional false hollywood reality that the Last Kiss is beating back like a swarm of angry bees. we, along with the rest of the animal kingdom may be more complicated and less "black and white" than that after all.
i think the egg is obvious and the fact that she is looking at it and missing what is going on alludes to the movie and how she is so caught up in the future that she misses where he is at now. While, on the other hand, he is so caught up in the past and what he may be giving up that he almost messes up the future by trying so awkwardly to fly.
i also like the irony of the cliche idea of flying representing freedom when in reality it would probably scare the hell out of any of us not designed to do it.
finally, i chose animals seemingly caught in a moment of emotion we reserve for ourselves because i just love that sh*%. i love when a bird seems to be flying for fun, my dog chooses his "favorite" torn up old gorilla over a brand new toy, or ,as Eddie Izzard says, a squirrels looks as if he stops to think if he turned off the stove. it is amazing how much we love to anthropomorphize that all is takes is a penguin looking up at the sky to give us all kinds of ideas....
