I have an iPod nano and it froze on me this morning. You know how when you press the Menu, it slides to the left for the next screen? Well mine is sorta between one screen and the next. You can see a litte of the menu screen, and the next screen with the title of the song playing. And it won't move. Pressed the buttons, held the buttons, nothing. I can't even turn it off. Anyone have this problem?

have you hooked it up to the computer? That might change it.

I think so. I just looked on the Apple site, but I left the iPod at home, so I can't try it right now. Think that will work?

it happened to me, i have a 30 gig photo and it froze all the time...i'm not sure if its the same for the nano but I knwo you're supposed to hold menu and start at the same time for 5 seconds...if that doesn't work, i hope you have insurance...i just took mine to best buy and they replaced it.

I tried hooking it back up to the computer, but nothing. No icon appeared on the desktop and iTunes didn't start up (I have it set where iTunes starts automatically when I plug in the iPod.

I've already sent the damn thing in once already, when the left earphone went out (I thought it was thephones but it wasn't). It's still under warranty I think...

Yeah I got some sweat on mine and it did that. I can't remember what I did to fix it. You need to try to re set it, I think.

iPod are bloody good products but their reliability is generally poor.

I have been through four iPods in the past five years and am on my fifth, which happens to be a shuffle...

well maybe. i have no idea, i was just thinking something along the lines of, 'outside buttons won't work, so maybe an internal message to switch the screen will'. My brother's iPod (like one of the oldest) had the 'hold' button turn on permanent hold so he couldnt play music. Quite sad really.

But uh, how long have you had your iPod? You could still have customer service and whatnot.

if it doesn't reset, maybe wait till it runs out of battery

They offered me the replacement thing at Best Buy and I basically toldthem to fuck off. I figured it's Apple, I trust them.

NOW who's the schmuck?

I think I've only had it since April. Like I said, I sent it in once already, but have to say the service was pretty quick.

I'll try the let-it-run-down thing if it doesn't reset

when my screen has frozen and the usual reset button combos (switching the HOLD button on and then off again, etc) aren't working, i plug it into the the recharger but NOT thru the computer. this always resets it.

my old ipod but the dust however, and after plugging it in, that little sick face icon came up. i'd used a cheap car charger and felt the ipod actually get hot. damned bargain...

screw the ipods

we have two creative labs zens (vision w (widescreen) and a zen Xtra

the Xtra is like 3yrs old and is still perfect (battery which is easily user changeable... like a cellphone) still holds good charge (it is somewhat large at this point as opposed to more modern players) but unlike the planed next Gen obsolescence of the ipods replacing it is our choice not forced on us cause it no longer works correctly/ at all.

ha shirt you can pull the ipod batteries..but you have to spilt the case open (ideally using special plastic tools) to get to it.

Mine freezes sometimes when I plug it into the computer...it's so annoying. I had to return my first ipod after a month because the battery was crap, and when I asked why the new one didn't have the engraving I'd had on my old one, they said "oh, if you wanted that, you had to tell us to ship it back to apple before we did the test." Geniuses, my ass. When my current one eventually dies, I'm definitely getting a different brand.
