I'm moving to Singapore in 3 weeks !! Sweet, huh? I'm kind of neutral about it. I'm excited to move but at the same time I'm leaving a couple friends and a very special guy behind (though he's moving too just a couple days after me...) so I don't really have any strong feelings about whether the move is good or not; not that I have much choice in the matter. The only thing that's bothering me about the move is that I have to repeat yr12 as I am now switching from IB to AP. Now on that I do have some strong feelings:
1. IB is hell. Not that much more work but the standards are higher and the time you have to do the work gets shorter.
2. IB exams are difficult, especially when you're used to just regurgitating things that teacher have taught you and not having to really think on your toes in a burning building.
3. I've heard AP is difficult too so that worries me but it's not that big a deal.
4. I have to do ANOTHER year of highschool. I did skip yr7 so I am in the year above where I should be but I was so set to graduate.
5. (This really gets me) All of my friends (from HongKong and Shanghai, and everywhere else for that matter) will be graduating next year. They'll be going on to university; to freedom. And I'll be stuck in highschool. I know that the chances of going to the same school with someone you know are quite low unless you plan it and I doubt I'll be really good friends or room with them but it's jus the whole thought of it. The whole idea that I'll be stuck at home with highschool homework and a curfew while thye'll be out trying new things and exploring a wider world of possibilities.
6. Singapore's amazing. It's clean, safe and they have BORDERS! What more could I want? OH! They have Krispy Kreme too !! :D
7. Shanghai's pretty amazing too though. All the things that 16yrolds what to be doing are legal in China. No age for drinking; you could be 12 and they'd still sell you alcohol (not saying this is a good or bad thing but if used wisely it doesn't have to be bad) clubs are no problem, no age there either. Public transport's ok. Subway can be WAY overcrowded but tolerable. Taxi's might not be extremly safe but they're not dangerous either. It's a very international community so people are always moving so it's very easy tomake friends and everyone knows everyone it seems so if you make one friend you'll easily make many more.

Overall I can't really decide to love or hate the move or the cities or the academics. It's quite inevitable so there's really no point thinking too hard about it I guess. Well that's my most recent rant. Congrats if you read all that.
