I don't get how some of thes designs could be done... i mean some just are really too good to seem like they are possibly just made on a computer... someone explain what is going on!

ok but how!?

because they are talented people.

Most work, at least the way I work (grant it none of ya'll have seen it), is I draw or do a mock design of something, scan and it and then trace over it in Illustrator, others scan and then do the coloring etc. in Photoshop. Either way, paper then computer, others have tablets and draw directly into the programs (you have to have good design programs), so it's preference.

Basically they are good...

That's like asking your parents what position they were in when you were conceived. Everybody does it (or "it") differently.

Buy a tablet, buy Illustrator, Photoshop, and Painter. And then practice until you get arthritis.

In a more serious answer, like everyone said, it depends on the piece. Pick out a design you really like and then we'll tell you how that person did it (what program and the steps and whatnot)

so hear is a few suggestions take some drafting classes in your high school, they should have the programs you need, spend lots of time drawing, read lots of design books, studythe hell out of art history and color theory, go to college for graphic design, spend those years studying more work, and creating more work, and in a total of maybe 7 or 8 years you too will be creating cool designs

Great ideas and great execution.

Both are key to a great design
