Want to give me some basic tips? I recently acquired the program and am just looking to know some of the basic functions, stuff that is useful to getting an idea into a picture.

Thanks in advance.

The pen tool is your friend. Google "illustrator tutorials". Good luck youngster.

The Adobe Classroom in a Book was a great resource for me, I agree the pen tool...I am still learning as well....I also recommend lots of layers and organizing them well...it makes things alot easier when trying to just edit certain parts...cant wait to see your design...hopefully I'll get something up soon too

practice, practice, practice. a good exercise I tell n00bs to do is to create your an alphabet with the pen tool. by the time you get to Z you'll have loads more experience and a greater understanding of what it's all about.
