A couple years ago, I was introduced to Korean cinema. I've only probably seen about 15. Since then, I haven't seen a lot more so I'm kind of out of the loop.

Some of my favorites are
-OLDBOY
-SYMPATHY FOR LADY VENGEANCE
-THE HOST
-MY SASSY GIRL (Guilty pleasure :P)
-THE WAY HOME
-ONCE UPON A TIME IN HIGH SCHOOL (forgot about this one)
-I'M A CYBORG, BUT THAT'S OKAY

Some that I want to see
-THIRST
-MOTHER
-TAEGUKGI
-SYMPATHY FOR MR. VENGEANCE

Your Suggestions:
-WELCOME TO DONGMAKGOL
-3-IRON
-H
-THE KING AND THE CLOWN
-CELLO
-RUNNING TURTLE

Any more must-see Korean movies? Also, if you've never seen these: Go! Rent! Now!

haha, I haven't gotten around to watching that even though that's the first in the trilogy. I'll add that to my "to watch" list.

Yeah, I'll have to see it finally. I probably wouldn't argue about the story either. I was really drawn to the visuals and the cinematography of Lady Vengeance. I was also kind of fixated on her bandaged finger. I kept thinking it was going to fall off.

Welcome to Dongmakgol is that nice blend of funny, sad, and poignant.

Once Upon A Time in High School is one of my favorites. It's just plain badass too.

I forgot that I did see ONCE UPON A TIME IN HIGH SCHOOL. I don't recall the plot or anything, but I remember that it was kind of intense. I remember thinking, "Wow. Is this high school or prison?"

Oh, sweet! And yeah, that's just how military run high schools were. Pretty ridiculous.

Running Turtle (거북이 달린다) is an action-comedy about a manhunt for a criminal with pretty much unbeatable fighting skills. I enjoyed it when I saw it in Korea this summer. :)

Thanks mrspiers! That's so cool :) I just commented on your blog and I didn't realize it had been over a week already. I'll be sure to e-mail you later today.

And yeah I did see Cyborg. It's probably the last Korean movie I saw. You're right, it really was random, but it was fun. Before I saw it, I kept hearing about some Korean-Justin Timberlake named Rain and when I finished "Cyborg," I found out that Rain was who I was watching the whole time.

Thanks sleepyfeet for putting "Running Turtle" on my radar. Most of the other ones I had heard about before but this is completely new to me. Definitely putting that on the To-Watch list.
