I'm taking AP Spanish and English language.

So who else has these dreaded classes? Anyone know any possible leaks or information about the tests? :D

This is my first year taking these and I paid almost $170 for the two of them and I don't want it to go to waste haha

Yep, I'm taking the Biology, European History, and English Lit ones this year. If you end up getting credit, then it's really worth it, so good luck!

Yeah, generally the AP language tests are very hard. Last year the AP German test made a fluent speaker cry at my school =/

I took French AP last year: the most painfully stressful 4 hours (and the countless study hours leading up to it) of my life.

But it paid off in the end.

GOOD LUCK.

I barely even remember the AP tests... I remember that nobody could hear the tape during AP French, and that I was frantically rewriting one of my essays during the AP lit one when everyone else was done and talking loudly... I wanted to kill them.

Also, in my case, they barely helped me -- the 5 on AP French boosted me up to a higher-level class, but they have a placement test here for that, and I'm taking extra language classes anyway. And I got out of our 1st-year writing requirement with AP English, but I ended up taking a class that counted as it anyway, plus I'm an English major. And the SAT 2s I took counted for the same things.

As shown by other people's comments, sometimes they help. But not always, and there are often other ways of getting advanced credit, so I wouldn't stress.

I'm taking German, English Language, and Art History. I was going to take English Lit as well, but it's scheduled at the same time as the German one, and if I took either one later, I would have gotten more scores too late for them to really matter with scheduling I think.

Also. I am going to have an aneurysm next Thursday during the test.

ballz. i'm not looking forward... i have French monday at 12, the worst part is that my school has an early release- it's CINCO de MAYO and i'm missing an ill party for that damn test. Then I have stats, and bio too.

not going to be a good couple of weeks.
Chipmnk
Chipmnk on Apr 30 '08 at 8:45pm
Calculus, Computer Science, Biology, Psychology, Economics, Government, Statistics, Literature.

Not fun. I got 1's on Calculus and Computer Science, a 2 on Government (or was it Econ?), a 4 on Literature, and 3's for the rest.

Considering you're only taking two, I don't think you should worry too much about it, but I never was one to put much bearing on grades and numbers.

But yeah, good luck. Get sleep. Eat Breakfast. Walk into the test knowing you're a badass.

i got a 4 on US history last year.. that wasn't so bad.

I'm just really suprised that neither of my classes have finished the lessons and has started reviewing yet...we still have to get through another unit in my world class

When I took French, we learned subjunctive and the rest of the year was review. It was painful, but paid off in the end.

haha I don't have to taaaaake any this year.

Anyway, AP Lang really isn't so bad. If you do well on the multiple choice you don't have to do well on the essays at all. Just make sure you finish them all in some form or other :)
margolove
margolove on May 01 '08 at 8:01pm
anyway, I took five of them over the past two years and managed to get 5s on all somehow, despite writing a really terrible literary analysis in twenty minutes for Lang and not knowing how to do Calculus (I taught myself AB but kind of forgot/didn't want to do the very last part on rotation of solids... and I barely answered the free response questions at all... hooray curving!)
kayceislost
kayceislost on May 01 '08 at 8:06pm
ahaha, i had a fever during my ap calc exam, passed out in the middle without doing any of the free response questions.

but i took ap language, us history, euro history, biology, chemistry, and calculus. woop woop.
margolove
margolove on May 01 '08 at 8:10pm
wait, I lied, I only took four. Lang, US, Euro, and Calc AB. My school didn't offer them so I had to go somewhere else to take them.. otherwise I would've done more.

I took European History, Literature and English Language. The only time I was sick my entire senior year was the day of the AP English test. I showed up anyway and got a 2.

I got a 4 on the Lit test so I didn't have to take Freshman Comp so at least that was worth it.

I only am taking AP Lit and AP psych...I mean there's no way to study for Lit, really so I'm not sweating it [also I got a 5 on the practice test we had for our midyear so as long as I haven't suffered any sudden retardation I think I'll be okay]...and I did similarly on the practice psych test our teacher gave us so I think that will be fine too.... I'm really glad I'm not taking any hard APs like Chem or Latin; I don't even know if I remember how to study any more...

Review Death of a Salesman for the AP English Lit exam....I can almost guarantee it's applicable to whatever essay question they throw at you.
