...within the first two days of class, he had already told us the endings to "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Next," "The Sixth Sense," and "The Matrix."

Needless to say, he's very annoying.

My English teacher only talks about the beauty of the English language. I'd rather have him talk about the matrix.

I remember as a student teacher informing a group of Lit 12 students at the end of my intro to Hamlet "...and in the end, everyone who's got it coming is going to get it -- including Hamlet!"



They all let out this collective groan, a couple smacked their tables...



"What?"



"You told us the ending!"



"Guys... It's 'The Tragedy of Hamlet.' If it's a tragedy, the protagonist dies, usually taking more than a few with him. If it's a comedy, the protagonist gets married... again, usually taking more than a few down with him."



Silence.



"You mean to tell me you made it all the way to Lit twelve and never noticed that?"



Students looking sheepish, some stare at their hands.



"Seriously?!"



"...no... but now that you say it, yeah!"



I always tell them that Shakespeare ruined all the endings for us, but it's a fun bloody ride finding out how we get there.

Ha! Yeah, it's funny, that there are only like five plots in the entire world and every movie/book/etc is a version of those.



One of my teachers challenged us to write a completely original story. We almost killed ourselves trying too.
