The first one (B) all the way for me...it brings the most out immediately to my eyes without overwhelming them like some of the other brighter colors. Good luck!
I really like D & E, though I'd love E better if the colors were maybe rearranged somehow... with the green diamonds, some of the purple monsters are visually pushed into the background.
Thanks for all the feedback everyone, this is cool.
Tesco: I play around with colours a lot - I don't have a set system to pick the colours, so if pushed I would have to say it is intuition. I often try to make a new colour out of one of the existing colours by picking it and then moving a few of the CMYK values around. I use the CMYK sliders a lot, but it can also be helpful to simply go into the colour picker menu (the one that shows up when you double-click the colour).
I often place several colourways next to each other on my screen and sit back and watch in order to see how i respond to them. Some could be more 'cool' or 'warm' than others, some could be more 'creepy' or 'happy' etc.
Also what helps is to save the entire image as a low-res GIF or JPG and play around with the Hue/Saturation sliders in photoshop (Ctrl+U). You won't get an instant good colourway, but if your first colourway is well balanced you will probably get some good 'suggestions' to start from.
