I've seen other people hold they're kids like that, and it grosses me out man. I understand its probably a good and supportive way of holding a child, it just looks bad :P

Why does it look bad?

It's one of the best ways to hold a kid, in my experience. They get to see what's going on, and you have one arm free to do other things.

you could always just hold me like that instead

I think it says more about your mind than anything, and if you had to spend hold a baby for a long time, you'd probably do it too.

naw, I dont think I would since I've already expressed that I think it looks bad.

Why would you worry about what it looks like? Something to hide?

Babies get super heavy after about 5 minutes of holding them. You gotta adjust.

are you sure your 21... you have the immature mind of a 15 year old... and just to entertain this conversation.. the majority of the holding is on the baby's thigh.. plus babies wear diapers which cushions everything from the waste below...

I still don't understand why you think this looks bad.

grabbing the crotch of a baby does not make you a perv if you are holding the kid in this way

perhaps he means that babies shouldnt be put on display, but rather be used as some sort of pillow cushioning

I have 3 kids. I've held every one of them like that ^_^

That's my nephew and he weighs over 20 pounds. Short of strapping him on your back, you hold him any way you can. What is weird about that?

People spend way too much time imagining what other people might think looks bad. Who gives a shit?

Um, if the problem is that you're sexualizing an infant then it's your problem, bub.

Brrrrrrrr.

But more importantly, he's ADORABLE!!!
deboraborialis
deboraborialis on May 30 '07 at 4:16pm
It's uncomfortable for you and them to hold them under the arms or round the middle. The way he is being held is one of the most comfortable ways.

Seriously though, the only other option is to use overalls as a handle. Kids get heavy.

Wow.

Well, this t-shirt must be really good if the only thing you can find to complain about it is the way the model is holding the baby in the pic.

When my niece was born I resisted carrying her like that because I imagined shit being squished around in her nappy, but as soon as she started to weigh a bit more I quickly gave in.

Too graphic?

This was one of the most idiotic threads I ever read. There should be a Top Ten Most Idiotic Threads list, and I would vote this number one, I think.

Babies are gonna have shit squished around in their nappies however you hold em, really. In my experience, they are not that bothered.

How do I act like that, pooner? I just put forward my ideas and my points. If I disagree with someone, I say so. What the hell is wrong with that?
pooner
pooner on Jun 03 '07 at 6:49pm
your demeanor just gives off the impression you think your opinions are more important than everyone elses. also you bash the thread for no reason saying it's the most idiotic thread ever created.
HaoNalle3
HaoNalle3 on Jun 03 '07 at 6:54pm
It's not an "idiotic thread". It's exactly what I was thinking when I saw the picture! It's just...weird when people hold their kids like that. I feel weird holding my kids like that!
13strong
13strong on Jun 03 '07 at 6:56pm
I'm sorry if my demeanour gives off that impression, but I'm just stating my opinions. If someone disagrees, and can argue their point, then that's cool. Anyway, of course I think my opinions are more valid than other people's - they're MY opinions. But they're not set in stone.

The whole "Guys T-shirts" thing was a mistake - I'm tired, and lazy gender stereotyping is something that really bugs me. Normally I would argue my points properly, but when you run up against this shit all the time, sometimes you just can't be bothered. I should have kept my mouth shut instead of venting, but there you go.

I bashed this thread for no reason? Have you read what this thread is about? Plus, there are about a dozen other people on here who agree that this thread is idiotic.

It's not weird. It's practical and comfortable for the kid. My neices prefer being held like that most of the time, because they can see what's going on, and it leaves you with one hand free to do other things. The guy obviously thought that there was something sexual or perverted about holding a child like this, which is ridiculous.

holding babies is tricky because they sometimes barf if being held inappropriately, so watching the tummy is elementary..
i think washing your old or disabled parents.naked, yeah? is a bit more awkward than this?

Babies love to held that way. And it is a natural posistion to hold a baby. They also wear diapers so it's all padded. Once you have children you'll see. It will be hard for you to avoid.
