when I saw it, I immediately wanted to get it for my wife. Then I saw the price. There has never been a t shirt worth $25.

I guess you have to consider a lot of things. Im glad you like the shirt but I wont attempt to tell you what it should be worth to you, only why its more expensive.

Mens shirts on this site are typically $15 and this is what you get:

A lower quality, stiffer Fruit of the Loom tee made potentially in an unethical manner by an overseas worker.

1-5 colors of ink

14 x 14 inch maximum printing area

For a select you get:

A high quality, light weight tee made specifically for superior screen printing results, by well paid workers right here in the United States.

1-10 colors plus special extra costly inks and printing methods. This particular one has 8 colors and gold foil, for a total of 9 colors which is almost double the standard tees.

Its also 19" x 21" inches or something slightly smaller.

For me, it makes the shirt worth more, but I made it, so im biased. For you, it might not, but there is a logical reason why it costs more, at the very least.

Selects only go down to 20 bucks, noobus. lol But you people saying no shirt is worth 30 bucks is hilarious when the quality of this shirt being printed on plus all the fancy inks and gold foil and such would sell for between 40-50 dollars on nearly every other site on the internet.

I can't believe someone wouldn't be willing to spend $25 (that's only £12.50!!!) on a t-shirt.

I see t-shirts on sale here in the UK that cost more than that, and they're just boring, crap, high street t-shirts.

If you wanted a creative, limited edition, well-made, original t-shirt like this one, you could easily pay £25-30 for it, which is $50-60.

At a nice design shop near me, that has a wee gallery, and sells art and design books and stuff, they also sell ltd edition screen-printed t-shirts by commissioned artists, and those cost £25.00

FFS. Spend a day in Britain and quite complaining!

And it's for your wife. A decent bunch of flowers must cost $50.

Bottom line: $25 isn't a huge amount for a design T-shirt regardless. If you don't want to pay it, don't. If you do, enjoy the fact that you are wearing a cool piece of design and supporting worldwide designers - maybe like yourself. Win win, or winge winge. Your choice.

I actually share the same thought when I first saw the t-shirts here in Threadless. I was surprised by the price!

$15 and $25 shirts are very expensive, especially when compared to good quality shirts sold here in the Philippines at $6-7.

And oh, by the way, last December I saw this shirt store near us. They had a sale... and guess what? 3 shirts for $2. (No, it's not a rummage/garage sale... it's a Christmas sale)

well it's just a matter of context. And oh, btw, it's $25 because it's a select. I'm sure your wife will love it anyway.

I agree with backtozero
one time when I was in Singapore, I bought a cell phone for like 20 bucks, then in Canada I tried to buy a cell phone and it was like 250 bucks......its like the cost of living actually changes from country to country. I mean, whats up with that?!?

It's called relative market value. People in the US and UK earn more on average than people in the Philippines and Singapore.

haha

Have to say, all I can think when a t-shirt costs $6-7 is, how did it get to be that cheap? The answer is: through exploitation of workers; horrific working conditions; poor quality materials; and environmentally damaging international shipping and transport.

Part of the reason the Selects cost a little more is because they're printed on American Apparel shirts (which are not without their ethical concerns, but still...).

But they also cost more because they use more expensive printing techniques to print exclusive designs by talented designers.

The fact is, to someone in the UK, Threadless shirts are cheap.

Hiya 13strong, I think your statement's too strong. :) The best explanation for its cheapness is what fatheed just mentioned. Well people hear earn less. So the best thing to do to sell your products is to sell them at a low price the people can afford.

In reality, the cost of producing these things are low, it just so happened that in "rich"/developed countries, people can afford much, so it would be most reasonable to increase the prices, to increase profits. And also, if they were sold at a cheap price, there could be scarcity because everyone can freely buy these things.

This btw. :)

Hiheee. I'm sorry for the lengthy post. XD
