So... they say that when you walk onto a college campus, you KNOW that it's the right one. But they also say that about love-- and I don't know anyone who just knows right away that they are going to marry someone. But, you know, I digress.

How did you guys pick?

And I know it's not a set-in-stone thing-- I could transfer-- and that college is what you make it, no matter what school you are at, but this is still pretty big!

I found one I liked many aspects about... The size, the location (weather and distance from home) the programs, reputation, extra stuff. and I picked it

some people may just know...have you visited all the colleges you're interested in? stayed the night? there's no way to really to know if it's the right school until you probably attend it..

You remind me of my friend. She wants to go to Ithica, but can't afford it right now even with her scholarships. She got a full ride to a state school, but feels she is "better" than that and refuses to go and will not even go to a CC to save money. Anyways, stupid.

For you, I'd wanna go to a class, rather then go by the feel of the campus. If you wanna major in math, sit in a math class and see how you like it.

It depends on your attitude. Most people will be fine no matter what school they go to and some people will hate it no matter where they go. Just have a positive attitude :)

I love using the wonderful people of Threadless for advice.

Scholarships are a fickle thing. It's weird that after everything, where you go can depend so much on $$. I've been lucky so far-- my biggest offers have been from my top schools (namely NYU). I guess it's worth it to swallow your pride and go to the school that you get the best offer from (in some cases), and go there with your positive attitude and make your own happiness there?

I went that route and went to a tiny school for my bachelors because they offered me a ton of assistance and I ended up loving it!! By the way, I am so jealous you might go to NYU!

Learn about the area. What is the weather like? The crime rate? What kinds of restaurants, stores, and parks are in the area? Is it an area you can call home for four years? How far away is it from your house, if something were to happen at home how quickly could you get back there?

This place is going to be where you live for a while, so while the college should be great, the town it is in should be just as perfect.

Although that college in FL might be a better school than the one in Wisconsin, if you can't stand the heat and humidity you are going to be a lot happier in Wisconsin.

See, I loved Occidental College, but it's right smack in the middle of the worst part of LA. Talk about a high crime rate! I will definitely keep "the area" in mind when I pick where I go next year.

I am also pretty stoked about NYU. They have pretty excellent neurology stuff, and I still get to be around the amazing arty people. Wonderful.

I chose the one that would actually accept me.

I actually didn't think much of it at first, but I love it now.
