I want to switch from a nano to a bean actually. The only thing is that i HATE that bullship Sonic Stage thingy with which you transfers music to it. Do you know if there is a patch for win or something so i wouldn't have to use that?

The Bean is cute, but I don't dig the Sony propietary stuff.



What I have (a Samsung YP-U1) has really worked for me. I can use it as a flash drive for my homework and I can use it for OGG and MP3.

ehh I ve had my ipod for 2 yrs now and no problems with it besides diminshed charge holding but any battery like what they use in ipods suffer teh same fate so Im not too upset and I beat teh fuck out of mine and its held up really well. I dont see iPODs as a rip off and I havent see a really good comparison for the other ones (most of which arent going to be mac compatible anyway so Im kinda stuck) to make me think that I need to go buy another companys version of it as for having to buy the music .... not if you know where to look for it

the ninety day workmanship warr is pretty damn short.. and i can say from experience the headphone jacks on some of the zens like to crap out....(luckily mine did so after 60days and was covered by warr)



The Zune could have been awesome.. but m$ kinda hosed it with the super restricted WiFi and adding DRM to your previously unDRM'd music when putting it on the Zune..and of course setting the terrible precedent of paying the RIAA a fee for each Zune sold under the assumption you would be listening to stolen music on it.



personally I am trying to decide among NON Play for Sure and NON ipod (iTMS) players screw Redmond's and Apple's DRM'd music players... I will be getting one with FLAC and OGG support.

Since when did you have to buy songs for iPod? And all this time I've been illegally downloading them. Oh ho hum.

i dunno why, but that really cracked me up.

McJamie... certainly you can put your own mp3s on your ipod... I just REALLY hate the itunes software you basically have to use with an ipod.



mp3 while the predominate format is not my personal favorite... I own damn near a thousand CDs I'm not to worried about putting pirate music on my player I just want to be able to put it on my player in OGG format (which is a truly open format) unlike mp3 which is a proprietary format.

Oh I have no idea what you're talking about. But I assume OGG and iPod don't get along.

How the heck do you choose what you want to listen to on that bean thing? Looks fiddly to me. iPods are still the best players out there, and although iTunes has been getting progressively more annoying with each new release, it is far easier to use than any other software I've seen. How'd ya like them apples.

But can you watch videos or your photos on your Bean? Or is Sonny planning to do that on a "Banana"?

I used to be the same with iPods about a year ago.

And now I need one, but don't want to pay for it myself. So I'm just making myself a bunch of mix tapes.

Well my ipod has proved it's worth the money...it's almost 3 years ago and well it's my second one since my first died...but i didnt pay anything. i've never bought any songs from itunes...plus it's simply the best.

ipod nanos are the dumbest thing to buy though.

I think it's ok that you all really want the Zune.

You can get zunes for 100 bucks every once in a while, they havent even sold a quarter million yet.

on OGG and iTunes as reasons to not buy an iPod.... Just install unix. Like I did. I still use the iPod's built in system to play music, but recording, games, outside apps, etc. I switch to unix. Which you can do on the fly. But if you don't want to use apple's system, you can drag and drop music without iTunes. Why is this possible. Becuase it's so popular, and more poeple have been tinkering for longer. It's a better supported more versatile device.

i love my iPod. without it i would be sad.

Oh, also, why do you care so much about iPods if you have your Bean or whatever that is. Why can't you just live with that instead of saying how iPods suck?

i love my ipod.

the fact that it is a 2g nano is beside the point, i didn't choose it to be so small.

but whatever, i still love it. it makes me happy on the inside.

and i have found iTunes to be the easiest music player (but that's just me)
