I'm stocking up on groceries this weekend and plan to stop by my favorite store, TJ's. Some staples:

- Whole-wheat pitas
- hummus
- Ak-Mak crackers
- white cheddar popcorn
- honey-wheat pretzel sticks
- Unburied Treasure
- Mochi
- Ends & Pieces (scraps of fruit leather...sadly, now gone)

I'm up for trying new things! Any suggestions?

with your hummus and pitas, also buy tomatos, cucumbers, feta cheesy, and lemon juice if you don't have it! then you can make a nice spring/summer pita sandwich!

rambunkcious - do you mean the veggie & flaxseed tortilla chips? if so, my sister bought some and we have 'em in our pantry right now! unburied treasure is TJ's version of pirate's booty...almost identical but half the price!

mm sonmi, a pita sandwich will be great for quick meals. i think i'll hit up the local farmer's market next week.

radiostaticstar - that is a TON of hummus. i bought a huge tub at Costco once, but barely made a dent before it went bad, so i'm sticking with the small containers from TJ's now. i like the flavor of theirs best anyhow.

it IS delicious- one of my favorite meals!

but anyway, i wish there was a trader joe's here! there is one about an hour away, and they were actually hiring sign artists, and i wanted to apply there. like, artists who illustrate each day's specials on blackboards.

part of the reason i love tj's is their hand-drawn signage! sonmi art at tj's would be icing on the cake.

i remember Laughing Cow as that cheese that came in little foil-wrapped cubes. do they make some other interesting product??
scenerie
   scenerie on Mar 22 '07 at 10:55pm
chelly, trader joe's is a large pirate ship with riches strewn about for all to plunder at will!

   scenerie on Mar 22 '07 at 11:13pm
valor, does 2008 work for you? hah! we're horrible at this. okay, how about next wednesday? diana and i were discussing this a few days ago and she suggested going to nucci's - i'm fine with that or natural cafe.

did you watch lucky number slevin last weekend??
valorandvellum
   valorandvellum on Mar 22 '07 at 11:15pm
Yeah, any day M-F is fine for me! Just let me know what time to meet and where. My work is very flexible when it comes to the lunch hour. Or pretty much anything else, haha.

Yes, I did watch it! It was really entertaining! Thanks for your suggestion, I really enjoyed it!
scenerie
   scenerie on Mar 22 '07 at 11:16pm
khol - definitely do it! you ARE missing out.

thecrackers - do you mean the mini peanut-butter cups in the plastic tub? if so, i totally agree. i'll give the mango lemonade a try... i love the peach-orange-mango juice!

chelly, get yer own booty! i'll throw ya overboard, ARRR.

hmmmm....from Trader Joe's....prolly should try some Woodford Reserve.
Robsoul
   Robsoul on Mar 22 '07 at 11:30pm
what do I usually get, hmmm? I think it's TJs Sutter Peanut butter & Chocolate Chunk cookies (usually near the breads in white packaging), Ritter bars (up front by the registers), really good deli meats and focaccia rolls for my deli meats.

I always go in there for one thing and end up walking up to the register juggling 10 items in my arms instead of just grabbing a basket when I go in, it's inevitable, I'm that guy.
The Crackers
The Crackers on Mar 22 '07 at 11:32pm
yes in the plastic tub

they are like way better than reeses

because the peanut butter is so delicious
The Crackers
The Crackers on Mar 22 '07 at 11:32pm
OH i know

chocolate covered peanuts there are soooo good

especially after you freeze them because they taste so good

The cupcakes are super tasty... and they're about 400 calories per cake. It's worth it, kinda!

TJs has these like mini chocolate chip cookies in like this tub... they're sooo good. actually i used them in my pic for cookie loves milk, but i think i turned away the label. but they look like that.
scenerie
   scenerie on Mar 22 '07 at 11:58pm
ocelot, i've had those! they're addictive.

i'm liking all these suggestions - deli meat and chocolate-covered peanuts are now on my list! (by the way, crackers...i like the grainy reese's peanut butter better and actually think the TJ's cups would be even better if they used reese's pb)
YtFeLMi
YtFeLMi on Mar 23 '07 at 12:01am
Oh, sorry.. Laughing cow is still what you remember. Little foil, triangles of cheese. I just love them spread on crackers, or melted over pasta. I add milk and some seasonings, and it's an ultra-light sauce.

I need to get to TJ's this week. I'm in need of healthy groceries.
