un-original ideas

don't you wish that people would look at previous submissions to try to come up with something original? because i submitted the first of now 4 standardized test shirts for the "last kiss" contest. and now i feel very unoriginal. thoughts?

true...i agree with execution of the task at hand. but mine is done voting. the rest have either 6 or 7 days left. thats not at the same time.

i've only seen one other one (haven't voted today yet) and it was very different from yours.
however, i do agree that people need to look at all the shirts that have already printed and try to stay away from those designs.

no offence to you, or tom (who is one of my favourite designers ftr), but the idea is incredibly bland anyway....not that that has anything to do with the point of this blog, i'm just sayin

Doesn't that still mean you submitted before they were posted? I don't really know how it works.

I think it would be good for people to really become familiar with the site and do a lot of voting before submitting... just so they know what the general voting public is tired of looking at and the level of quality that is expected for a decent score. Beyond that, I think that any kind of content can be executed well, even if it's been done before.

dude, i feel the same now. i saw yours while i was working on mine, but since it took so long to create my test sheet (it is pretty complex) i didnt get to sub it til a few days after.
then i saw these other ones today and i feel like i submitted a design with hearts and pandas, dancing around skulls with splatter marks on them. :(

The only thing I don't get is how they accept five of the same designs into the contest, then they decline mine. My design was an original idea, and I'm not saying it was great but it was definitely at least up to par with the rest of the designs. My design didn't even get a chance to be voted on.

I've submitted 2 designs completely original that were both declined... :\

The first was iffy, but the second was better than some of the crap that gets through. I guess I just keep trying.
