Taken from a post I made elsewhere:

I've been waiting forever and a day for a story awkward enough to share with everyone, and today was my lucky (?) day!! Plus, this story rated an A- from a friend of mine on his Amber Storytelling Scale, which is amazing because I am a lousy storyteller. ANYWAY.

Today was my last full day of classes, and I decided to celebrate by wearing my Communist Party t-shirt. All was going well until I went into work. I work at University Card Services, where people come to get new IDs if they lose theirs or are new faculty/staff/students/what have you. I am standing there, looking excellent in my awesome Communist t-shirt, when a fella walks up. He gives me this smile like "I apologize in advance" and starts speaking with a very very very heavy accent. It worries me a little, but only in the back of my head, so I don't pay attention much. Eventually I gather that he is a grad student working for the Chemistry department, and I ask for a photo ID so I can make his University ID (which is standard). He pulls out his passport, and lo and behold our grad friend is from RUSSIA. I just stood there awkwardly staring at his passport in my Communist t-shirt, and then sort of lamely go "Well, let's take your picture!" DDD:

The best part is that when he was leaving he turns to me and says "I find your t-shirt to be very beautiful." XDDD

In Communist Russia, ID makes you!

Whenever I tell a girl I find her t-shirt to be very beautiful, I'm really talking about her tits.

I don't need an excuse, just a euphemism.

...an euphemism.

To some of us, sporting the hammer and sickle is akin to sporting a swastika. It's supremely offensive. It's not about the communist party, but what the hammer and sickle represents and the atrocities that went on under soviet oppression.

It's sickening.

And some of us find wearing the USAmerican flag to be offensive. It's supremely sickening. It's not about capitalism, but about what the stars and stripes represents and the genocide that the US perpetrated against First Nations people in North America.

It's revolting.

I've always wondered how different russian commuism would of been if the bolsheviks didnt take control of russia, before they did it was first ruled by the intern goverment and was working with alot of different communist groups, the intern goverment probably would of fallen anyway but imagine what communism would of been like if it was elected based on a party system.

Oh you're stories kind of funny but you are making a bigger deal out of it than it was, its not like you wore a shirt saying I hate russians, I mean the guy found it funny.

I'm just saying it was supremely awkward. Fuck it, I'd wear it in the middle of Russia right now, but I hear it's cold there, and a coat would cover it up. *sad*

That makes an infinite amount of sense.

And Tialys, neat things always happen when you wear Threadless shirts. Either you make friends with a Russian exchange student or you find another Threadless fan or you are kidnapped by aliens! It's all good!
