Did you know that several styles of buns are available for your Whataburger sandwiches at request?
I didn't... until yesterday. For one thing, you can order your buns to be toasted! You can specify how toasty you want your bun in gradients ranging from slightly toasted buns, to buns toasted to a crisp. Not only can you toast your bun, but you also have a choice of bun sizes. There are two sizes available at Whataburger for buns - small, and regular. Small buns are too small for the generic meat patties, giving the burger a visual effect that makes it look like there's too much meat in the burger. With the advent of small buns, you can lay your head in the table, stare at your double meat burger, and with the use of a little bit of imagination, successfully convince yourself that it's the biggest burger you have ever seen. Critics argue that the choice of ordering small buns for burgers should be dismissed, for small buns have a purely aesthetic advantage. They argue that the negative effects of small buns are far more prevalent and disadvantageous, for the loss of a "couple of inches of bread" presumably decreases the satiety effects of burgers on a large scale. However, most researchers beg to differ, as recent studies have shown that the ordering of small buns on standard Whataburgers has an average increase in levels of hunger satiety of 18.7% [Flowers et al]. These same studies suggest that this curious, yet little understood effect may be due to the psychological attributes big burgers with small buns inherently attain. Also, you can get wheat buns, but those just plain suck.
