I'm trying to think of something for my first sub, but I want to stay away from overdone-to-the-point-of-annoying themes.

Has there been a lot of tattoo flash inspired artwork? I'm new to threadless, but not to design.

I want to see stuff with dragonflies instead of butterflies (yes I know dragonflies are all cool at the moment - at least they are in Australia) but I've liked them since 'before they were cool' ehehe

"parodies" isn't a cliche, it's what it's parodying that is the important thing. A bit of a dumb comment really.

As for your question, I am sick of seeing bunches of similarly themed things that form a larger object or shape, and I am sick of "most of these objects are the same, but this one isn't afraid to be different!" themes.

I'm still loving my "Ask me about being a pirate shirt" but all of the pirate slogans are killing me. Just because you add an "Arrrgh matey" or something, doesn't make it good.

Heh... lemonalle, I don't know what you're describing as I'm pretty new. I listed: Heads (swirly) but I'm pretty sure that isn't what you're trying to list as overrated. Can you link me to an example?

i think she just meant like the shirts with only a girl's face and then some graphic behind her. An example is that "Who I am?" shirt that looks cool, but now has been overdone

I can pretty much handle most of the cliched ideas if they are executed well, but those heads really rankle me for some reason.

Yeah, they all get 2's from me. Except for Exhibit A. That one was pretty good, but still unoriginal.

I dislike them because they are so abstract and the concept is ridiculously mundane. At least Zombies and Jesus can be funny or original in some way or form. Changing the swirly thing doesn't do much with the head design.

i think more shirts need to have the images placed in a unique place on the shirt BUT having a reason for it being there.
