Just wondering, is this 'Game' some esoteric being that only exists in California and Arizona?

The rules:
"To know the game is to play the game, once you know the game, you'll never forget..." or something.
Whenever you think of the game, you lose, but I lost, so you have a 30-minute grace period...

ahh! I lost the game. its really common here...which is MN/ND...mostly theatre kids play it, which is why I do...but yeah. Its funny, you can walk through my lunch room and right by the doors to leave you can just say "I LOST THE GAME" loud enough so the nearest 4 tables can hear you and there is one gigantic collective groan and they're like NO! I LOST THE GAME!
