Oy! Thanks to everyone who voted for my design.

The Threadless experience has been great; updating my submission page every minute to watch for new comments, getting the congratulatory email from the Threadless art department, getting my biggest art commission yet, seeing my shirt for sale on the front page, and seeing it sell out almost completely the first day!

I have tons of people emailing me, and coming up to me at school asking about reprints so go click "REPRINT ME"!

I hope to have some more designs submitted soon, although it takes me a while working with Adobe Photoshop 2.o (which is like 10 years old). Maybe I'll use the prize money to upgrade.

Hope it gets reprinted soon!

Photoshop 2.0?! When was that used last, like 94'? That's kind of cool that you're using such antique software.
Congrats.

Haha, just looking at the release dates, version 2 was pre-layers! Nuts.

I will be honest. At first, I did not like this, but its growing on me. Its more clever than I had originally wanted to give it credit for, and it looks good on a shirt. I never saw it when it was up for scoring.

Looks like Spastic Ink. http://www.ronjarzombek.com/complete.html They took that name because when their music was written out, there were so many notes that the page was almost as black as white. Still, nice shirt!

Oy! Reprint anyone?

Thanks to everyone who voted for the reprint! I'm so glad this reprinted so some of my friends can get ahold of it. I only managed to get what i needed before they sold out by purchasing them from school on my iPhone!

I'm not sure how/when I get credit for the reprint, or if this even counts as an official reprint. I haven't received any emails from Threadless on that subject. Yet.

Keep clickin' that "reprint me" button!

I'm pretty sure I will spend some of the prize money on some new software to replace my stone and chisel, I mean... Adobe Photoshop 2.0. I'm looking into Adobe Creative Suite 3. Anyone else care to suggest something different?

Pretty cool shirt, although if the piece was in d minor it would probably end on a d, not an a.

It is perfectly possible for a piece to end on the dominant note instead of the tonic, although the tonic is more prevalent.

ANYWAY. I love this shirt and I've already clicked on the reprint button, so hopefully it gets reprinted and soon!

So here's the recap...

Printed Nov. 19th.
SOLD OUT by Nov. 20th.
Random shirts in stock through Nov. 25th.
Everything in stock again (But no an official reprint) on Nov. 26th.
SOLD OUT AGAIN(except for a hoody or 3) by that night.
More random shirts in stock through Dec. 9th.
"Splatter in D Minor" appears on official "Sold out" page.
Reprinted on Dec. 10th (3 weeks after initial print).

Watching my inbox is more exciting than anything on NBC.

And just to settle some other posts...

-I named it "Splatter in D Minor" because my pen once exploded
on some music in the key of D minor.
-I originally submitted this shirt on a red shirt. Black on white
looks much better. And if the people want it on a different color?
BLOG! It's the only way Threadless is going to know.
-I did receive an official reprint email today (Dec. 10th), which
means no more "1st edition".

Good luck to Threadless for the holiday rush!

Just got this shirt as a gift, and I love it, though I do agree that when I saw it was called Splatter in D Minor I was disappinted, not that it didn't end on D, but that the key signature looks like one sharp (though it's hard to see under the splatter). Thanks for the explanation on the title though -- and it's a great design no matter what!

Also, to all the people who thought this should end on a D, try singing it to yourself. It sounds like it wants to resolve to A, but hasn't, which makes it even cooler in my opinion. Also, if it was in A minor or A major it would have a G# just before the end, which it doesn't. Sounds pretty D minor to me.

So do most people use photoshop to work on their designs? I guess that's something to ask for for Christmas!

I'd love to work on a couple of ideas this winter, but I don't have photoshop yet... anybody know of other programs that are used?
