about Labor Day
i scored it a 0. and from the looks of it, so did a lot of other people. i mean, i'm one of the people who gets annoyed when people say "i don't get it", but this isn't even a neato design with nothing to get.

it's just a chair.

The guy that made it actually went to SkinnyCorp and wrestled everyone inside, and even someone outside, I think.

well, its called a screenprint. they use this huge machine that spreads ink onto the shirt. and then they dry them in this big oven, and BAM, tshirt. har har

Wow, this design really does suck! I have no clue why I gave it a $5 and an i'd buy it...

Now, now....don't be haters. The fact of the matter is that this is a very well executed design: great choice of color, cool hand drawn effect and above all simplicity. You are all just mad that you don't think outside the box.

Nainto--- You gave it a 5$ and an i'd buy it? Thats kindof gay... You reapeated yourself.

Largent-J, there is no box to think outside of.

It's a freaking lawn chair.

it's about what the lawnchair symbolizes, and that lazy afternoon that it recalls. the scribbles evoke the casualness and ease that a lawn chair is. it is both nastalgic and current.

It is a freaking lawn chair....and that, in itself is what is "out of the box"
Stevethegreat
Stevethegreat on Oct 17 '06 at 6:11pm
it is different in its pure commonness

I totally agree, although I guess if we really dont like it we just simply don't have to buy it.

STILL, there were many other (better) designs that should've gotten printed before this monstrosity.

i'm just afraid that if i bought it, people would sit on my chest.

Which is a very understandable fear.

would be a better design if it had poo stains on the seat bit of the chair, summer is a time for nudists who have diarrhea

It's the randomness of it that makes the chair beautiful.
Toriff
Toriff on Oct 18 '06 at 7:13am
Randomness comes from meercats doing handstands on the chair, not the chair itself. Notice how you can't see any meercats, it's genious.

You are aware that there is a world beyond what you like?

tell this juvenille sentiment to your dog.

there is no world beyond what i like. also, there is no such thing as canada.

i've seen modern art that makes people go "i can do that" because they're just not thinking about what it really means. but this... is just a chair to me. when i look at it, i don't remember relaxed summer days. i don't see the hand-drawn lines and say "wow, that's some good drawing." i don't look at the colors and think about how well they chose them. but that's mostly because i'm colorblind.

i look at it, and i see a chair. a screenprinted chair.

ok, yeah, if i don't like it, i don't have to buy it. but ya know what's more effective than not buying it? not buying it and telling threadless that i don't like the design.

ok, yeah, i'm one person. and although threadless serves to a relatively small market, one person complaining still isn't going to do much. but they do look at these blogs every once in a while. and if lots of people are complainging about the design, then they are less inclined to produce something of a similar caliber in the future.

exsane, I'm sure Threadless had a pretty good idea of the negative response that was likely to come when they chose to print the shirt in the first place. Odds are, the realization of that response has neither surprized nor fazed them. They know how great the shirt is and obviously realize that a lot of other people do, too. If other people's varying explanations of why the shirt is great hasn't at least given you a tolerance of it, then I doubt anything ever will.

I think that bothers me most is that this design is apparently worth $2,000.

This design is totally worth 2000 dollars and if you tell me otherwise I will tell you that this shirt has more symbolic meaning than The Great Gatsby, A Separate Peace, The Glass Menagerie, and The Metamorphosis combined.
