i actually just read 'A Million Little Pieces' and it was WAAAY better than i expected. if you like to read about rather deep subjects (such as hard drug abuse & life changes) then i recommend this book.

If you like prozac nation you will probably like "wasted". It's my favorite book by far, it is so well written.

I just finished reading The Sound and the Fury by William Faulkner for school. It was a good book but a little hard to understand. It had multiple narrators; none of whom bother to introduce themselves.

hmmm. that would be a little hard to understand.

Oh, The Sound and the Fury

The first voice was like nails on a chalkboard to me. But skimming through, the intellectual fellow's writing is quite good.

Who doesn't like Tropic of Cancer? It's half porn half ranting Henry Miller.

Read "The Time Traveler's Wife" by Audrey Nffenegger, it's like Slaughter House 5 but romantic and maybe for girls and literary geeks.

oh and truthfully, even though i was FORCED to read it last year in school - The Great Gatsby is a great peice of literature. i suggest it to anyone who hasnt read it.
BuiltToSpill
BuiltToSpill on Sep 01 '06 at 9:55pm
Oh that reminds me of a book I read at the same time as Gatsby (imo given more credit than it deserves because of its mainstream appeal), the Sun Also Rises by Hemingway. It's sort of a hit or miss but I really dig his style.

I had to read The Great Gatsby last year. I think I was the only person who liked it. Even my English teacher said he didn't like it.

East of Eden

Catcher in the Rye

One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest

oh, I loved East of Eden[yes it is Steinbeck].

The Great Gatsby is phenomenal, although it's sad.

1984 [Orwell] great, especially considering our Government these days

If you want a love story...Pride and Prejudice [Austen], or Jane Eyre, C. Bronte [I like this book although it's a bit odd at parts]

I liked Catcher in the Rye, but it isn't an "everyone" book. But it isn't that long, so you could finish it quick.
