the best concert i've been to was the Arcade Fire with LCD Soundsystem opening on a balmy june night in an open-sky ampitheater- both bands were absolutely amazing and played forever.

Worst was Modest Mouse. Band of Horses opened for them and totally rocked the place. Modest Mouse did a half-hearted show that was just their new stuff. And it was hot with lots of drunken fraternities in attendance.

worst was Animotion, Bow Wow Wow and Drama Rama - the 1st 2 were awesome and fun to dance and sing along with. Drama Rama was a bunch of jerks who turned every song into a solo for someone.

best was probably this country music festival I went to as a kid because Wolfman Jack was the host and Jerry Lee Lewis performed. And that's just plain cool.

I wish I went to cp's two conceerts

Kaiser Chiefs/Weezer/Foo Fighters was nice

Lynyrd Skynyrd/ZZ Top petered out because Skynyrd blew the roof off the place first and ZZ Top couldn't top em

I don't know what the BEST concert I've ever been too was.

But the worst had to be the one time I saw Matt and Kim, it wasn't because of their performance. It was just because I saw it at University of Delaware with a bunch of really stiff 18 year olds that had never been to a concert. They were so dead!

Or the time I saw minus the bear, cuz my friend passed out right before they came on and me and my other friend had to carry her all the way through the venue. But then we met some people from annuals, so that was cool.

black dice was really fun 'cause they had crazy projections

i've been to a lot of bad local/house shows

Primus would be awesome....and unless time traveling was an option and Robbie Van Zant was still alive, i can't see how lynrd skynrd would be anything more than a cover band of itself. :O

Not necessarily the worst show you ever saw...I mean i saw Destiny's Child in a gymn in Fairbanks before they were big...HORRIBLE. Also Night Ranger at a local bar.

Most disappointing..Like you were all excited and then :(

30 Seconds to Mars as best

I love the Black Crowes, but their tour for Warpaint super sucked. It was all political shit. Just play tunes, spare me the propaganda. thanks.

I saw Andrew WK back in 02. That shit was bananas. I never laughed my ass off at a show as much as that one.

worst concert:

the hippie playing bongos at the duck pond at my university...and a guy in a beret dancing to it...

2nd best: Flogging Molly in the Blue Loon in Ester, Alaska. Small show, super long, small audience, and everyone was drunk and dancing.

best- recently saw Local Natives with Suckers. It was all around fun and perfect

worst- built to spill. just not that impressive live plus I was annoyed and tired after sitting through 2 opening bands one of which was meat puppets and they played way too long for an opening band and some of their fans were freaks.
ndstillie
   ndstillie on Jun 09 '10 at 2:52pm
Man.....meat puppets are awesome, not really the average opening band.

i've been to way too many amazing shows to pick a best one, but the best arena-sized concert was probably radiohead.

most disappointing would be any show i performed at where less than 20 people showed up.

Animal Collective was the best show I went to. It was an extremely feel-good show. Listening to their music is a completely different experience compared to seeing them live and dancing and moving to it, and being on the same note as everyone in the crowd. And I eventually got up front! It was really loving.

As for worst, I haven't been to a lot of shows, so my least favorite is probably Blink 182's last Hawaii show before their hiatus. It was nothing like their live CD and I had balcony seats far from the front.

avalanche_lily on Jun 09 '10 at 2:56pm
I'm sure I could have appreciated Meat Puppets more if I was there to see them and my legs weren't tired and I wasn't impatient to see the band coming on next.

I feel bummed out for opening acts, because most of the crowd didn't come for them. I saw Grouper and No Age open at different shows and they were awesome, but no one was feeling them.

being an opening act is the pits. even if you've got your act together, people don't pay attention!

and i agree that animal collective shows are always great live

best was probably:

me and my girlfriends anniversary, phosphorescent at first unitarian church chapel in philly, holds 50 people. low lighting, pew seating. played a willy nelson cover and an amazing tom petty cover.

weezer was my first concert.

worst was probably black moth super rainbow at pier 49 in manhattan. i dont like costumes.

mikebautista, i saw NO AGE open for liars.

both were super super amazing.

that was definitely the most exciting opening band performance ever. everybody was way into it.
mike bautista
mike bautista on Jun 09 '10 at 3:24pm
Gahhh I wish the crowd was into it! It would've been so much better. I'd like to see Liars live, especially around the time they released Drums Not Dead. I think that'd be awesome to experience.

I'd like to see Gogol Bordello live too. I don't listen to them a lot, but they look like a really fun live act.

Best: Porcupine Tree

I had already seen Opeth and I expected this to be as amazing as that one, but then they went and overshadowed it. Seriously, such high-caliber musicians, everything was exectued perfect and beautifully.

The first part was an hour of their latest album, already prearranged in a specific manner, sometimes mixing the songs, and at some points I just got lost for like 10 minutes and then realized 2-3 songs had already passed. The second hour+ was of older songs and they played a bunch I wanted to listen and everything was as perefect/beautiful.

It's gonna be a really, really hard concert to top.

Ratatat was awesome, Gogol Bordello was also great.

Most disappointing: In Flames

It was still good but not great, their lead guitarist (who I wanted to see the most) was on rehab so he was a no-show, at least he was replaced from a guy from a defunct band I love who I probably never hsee again, so that wasn't that bad.

They played a bit too much of their laatest album for my taste (which isn't that good) but what pissed me of a lot in that area is that they closed with their lame single from that album, I was really, really expecting a song I love from them and then they ended with that shit and didn't even play the other.

And at the first half-hour one of the guitar had too many mediums and sound flatter than it should, probably a technicians fault but still somewhat annoying.

best U2 - zoo tv tour in philly. the pixies opened.
worst - the butthole surfers at harveys lake, think a couple other bands played too, i dont remember, but i do remember they were the worst.
