I was so excited to come home and open up the shirts that I ordered for a couple of friends for Christmas. The UPS tracking info says they were delivered at 12:45 pm today. So I get home and... no package.

I'm not terribly familiar with UPS's policies. If nobody was home when they came, might they have taken it to the rental office and left it there? My fear is that this apartment complex is kind of confusing-- there's another apartment with the same apartment number as ours, just a different street number, which is not readily apparent. I even had some people drop off a house warming gift at the other apartment once instead of ours. And apparently whoever lives in the other apartment had no qualms about keeping it, or at least not going to any effort to deliver it to the right place.

On the tracking info, is the "Signed By" the name of the driver who delivered it, or is it supposed to the name of the person who signed for it when they dropped it off?

UPS usually leaves a little tag on your door or mailbox that reads "We were here at such-and-such a time" and so forth. They are not supposed to let anyone not at the address sign for the package. You might check out that other apartment.

Yeah, I'm accustomed to the little tag on the door. Not there this time, and the tracking info says it was delivered, so someone got it. I guess I'll call the rental office tomorrow and see if they have it, and if not I guess I'll have to go meet my apartment number doppelgangers. Grrrr.

Call the rental office & then pay a visit to the other apartment. Also if UPS did deliver it to the other apartment call UPS customer service and complain. Drivers are supposed to ask for ID to match the name on the package before leaving it with anyone (rental offices are the exception). They can get in BIG trouble for not ID'ing when delivering.

Also the "Signed By" is the person who took your package from the driver and not the actual driver.

Well, mystery solved-- it's at the office. Yay. Thanks, everyone.
