I've been thinking about what Threadless has become lately and I must say...I'm not a fan of the type tees. Possibly because I suck at thinking up good ones, but I've always much preferred wearing a piece of art with a cool message. Type tees sort of dumb things down to words so that people can understand them easier. Then again there are some things that can't be expressed without words. I do like that Threadless made them cheaper though. Any thoughts on the issue?

I like that I can submit a slogan because I cannot make a design.

Some type tees rock, though.

Yeah that's true...I'm trying to learn to design and it's a lot easier just to submit a slogan.

I pretty much agree, at the risk of sounding like a hypocrite because of my many slogan submissions. (Money is too tempting.) I've also been feeling bitter because, in my opinion, many of the type tee slogans seem mediocre at best. Maybe I'm just cynical, but I liked Threadless a lot more when it was smaller, before the 10 new shirts a week, Threadless selects, and type tees. It's almost like the trap that I fall in of not liking bands and songs after they go "mainstream". It's petty and I hate it, but I do it anyway.

Sorry for rambling.

Most definately all of the slogans are mediocre at best. I rarely see one that I like...not even my own. And don't worry...rambling is acceptable here. :)

So far none of the type tees have been funny or clever.

OMG Clothing > Type Tees

...if they combined the two, so the text that was on the shirt was also illustrated a bit, i bet they would sell better.
