Okay! I've had some good learning experiences with my first submissions here on Threadless. I'm interested to see how my other designs end up scoring!

In the meantime, I was having so much fun I drew this image over the last two days and submitted it today. The only think I wonder about are the different colors of the biker and his bike silhouette. I drew them that way to help me keep them separate in Illustrator, and then when I was done, I decided to keep them different colors after all.

I'm especially proud of my little bunny.

I'd love your thoughts! Hopefully you'll see this up and running in 4-8 days!

By the way, I'm finding that I have to index my .gif submission files down pretty small to get these files under the 120k limit. On this one I had to use only 85 colors. Are you doing the same? Any other tips to get the .gif file size small? I'm using GIMP 2.2 to import my Illustrator file, cropping and resizing it down to 640 x 480, and then indexing the file before saving it.

i had trouble with my latest sub, but that was when we had to resize to 70k. I dont have trouble anymore, now that its 120k.

That's good. I can't imagine getting some of these files down to 70k! I'm always ending up around 130k or so and have to try to tweak these down. Although I guess it doesn't matter how pixellated your model gets. So is there a way to avoid pixellating the T-shirt color (which is just one color, here)? How can you influence the index color choices?

do you use photoshop? because I never have problems with getting under 120 using photoshop. all my subs are at 72dpi for the submission

I'm using GIMP, which may be part of the reason I'm getting larger file sizes. I am resizing down to 72dpi, so I know it isn't that. Anyone else a GIMP user that has challenges with file sizes? I did find that "Save a copy..." gives me a smaller file size with GIMP than just "Save as..." which is wierd, I think.
