It's basially a play on the vowels a, e, i, o and u.

A p is placed before each vowel to represent "pronounce", which in a ways pays homage to the early grade school days where we'd have to sound out our vowel sounds.

Anyways, little animals are thrown in to give it a "natural" animal sounding expression to it. At least that's what I'm led to believe by the comments made by the creator.
