I'm not very comfortable with this whole blogging/self promotion thing so please bear with me. I just wanted to keep a little journal of progress.

Since it's coming up my my 3 year Threadless anniversary and truthfully I'm running dry on ideas lately (realistic Jetson's anyone? Rosie as the Terminator?) I decided to look back at where I started ( admittedly it was crap. Not that some of my more current designs aren't still crap but those were real steamers) and apply what I have learned.

So I decided to start the beginning. If I wanted to do a design about the uber-cool red-winged blackbird- how would I approach it now?

So to have something to do, that's what I did.

Then:
redwingblackbird - Threadless T-shirts, Nude No More

Now:
New Paint Job - Threadless T-shirts, Nude No More

Please don't worry though-I'm not going to do this with all my previous designs. Some stuff is still crap regardless of how much lipstick you put on it.

Also to keep it different and make reading this worthwhile. The first person to bump this blog next Tuesday (6-23) at 8 Pm (EST) will get a free t-shirt of their choice, or a free drawing or print or whatever.

Dear Threadless,
Thank you very much for this award. It's more than generous of you.

Thanks to all the bloggers that annoyed everyone with their
yellow avatars. Please use your power to get someone else printed.
Jean Warhol, Wandering Bert and Alvarejo are just some suggestions.

Those of you I know personally, special thanks to you for your support.

Best part is now I know longer have to hear Cbuchholz brag all day. He's always asking if I want to shine his Alumni medal. Bastard.

1. Apparently the French Revolution was fought in 2 parts and video taped

2.It pronounced shi-mala not shim-ala.

3.There is enough M&M merchandise to fill 3 stories.

4.A 200 square foot apartment does not hold 11 people comfortably especially when they are trying to eat.

5.You can not actually tell how tall or short people are till you meet them in person.

6.Rolf has an insane amount of music knowledge.

7.AndyG is a great guy, host and tour guide.

8.The map room in the public library is actually cool.

9.Walking 40 block on a Sunday morning is actually a great way to see the city.

10. The Central Park Zoo is kind of lame. Though the old polar bear is cool.

11.The uptown subway will not take you downtown.

12.Some of the coolest music I've heard in a while is being played in said subway station.

13.It takes $19 and a forty minute wait to see the top of the Empire State building.

I'm sure there's more, but this is a start.

I have an idea for my next sub and I need your help.

Without getting into too much detail, I need pictures of screaming faces.

Now, I could get them off the net, I have an account at a royalty-free site, but where is the fun in that? I like to use things and people I know as models for my illustrations. So, I guess what I'm asking for is for you, if so inclined, is to take a picture of yourself (or have someone take it for you) screaming. It could be from any angle. Profile, straight on, from below, doesn't matter. Just of your face. I need to photos to be of at least good quality and size. I'm going to halftone them.

This is a legit request. I'm not a perv. Really. (kind of sad I have to say that and half of you won't believe me anyway) I will not use your photo for anything other than this design. I'm hoping some of you might think it's kind of cool to participate. If you think I'm some sort of hack and I should f*ck off that's cool too.

So what's in it for you? A nice glossy print of the design mailed to you is all I can promise. (and my sincere thanks, of course) If hell freezes over, a free t-shirt.

My email is in my profile. Please feel free to ask me any questions there or here.

Thanks

I bought this shirt for my 3 year old daughter. She took one look at it and started to cry. After she settled down, she played I-spy with it (where's the owl, etc.) named the moon men (Marvin, Felix, Phineas) and felt a lot better about the whole thing. She still, however, won't wear in the dark to check out the glowiness. All in all though an awesome shirt.

Congrats V&V.
Awesome shirt.
(I've never owned a light blue shirt in my life, and have now bought 5) (damn you threadless, I've always been happy with my earth tone, shades of grey wardrobe!)
