...make a simple list!

I've realized that some of the shirts that I actually bought I scored pretty low originally. Therefore lately as I've been scoring I've been more intentional about what it is that I'm telling myself about each design.

Also, please repost. I am very interested in seeing other's ways of scoring.

.

$5 - Obviously, I'd buy.

5- Remarkable. I may or may not buy it, but I know people that would.

4- Amazing. Yet lacking something.

3- Amazing. Wouldn't wear it.

2- Good effort. Try again.

1- Bad effort. Try again.

0- I'm offended.

0 - Not interested at all / offensive / looks like you could find it at Walmart.

1 - Subject matter is silly / unwise choice of color / needs a lot of TLC.

2 - Average work / could find it on other shirt sites (sites such as Busted Tees).

3 - You're getting somewhere / idea is cool, but execution could use a bit more work.

4 - Love the idea / good work / have good standing with person.

5 - exceptional work / originality / composition / humbleness of designer

$ - anything I'd buy (usually added to 4 or 5, but I did score something 3$ once).

Presentation is a big thing as well.
A great design is one thing.
An awesome template ups the ante.

humbleness of designer? lol, I have no idea what that means...so if a designer's a dick but he makes a great shirt, you'd score it a 2? You so krayzay.

Hmm, again a presentation is fun and I might add a point to a design once in a blue moon for an incredibly creative presentation....but aren't we here to score on how good a shirt looks/how good the concept is/what makes a great shirt design? I like a fun and creative presentation as much as the next person, it just makes a good design look that much more professional and good looking on the sample shirt, but are you saying you sometimes or routinely give higher scores because of how it's presented?

I'm just trying to clarify what you wrote, not busting balls by the way :)

I have often wondered how others formulate their scoring scale!

Do you score high for exceptional artwork, despite the piece not really being t-shirt material?
Is the concept the factor that impresses most even if the artwork isn't the best?
Do you rate a piece higher if you would wear it and lower if you wouldn't wear it?

I try to be honest and fair with my scoring and I'm pleased when a fringe designer I've scored well is printed as I feel it vindicates my faith in the score I've given!

My scale tends to go like this:

0 - you have probably been exposed as a design thief!! Or your design is offensive to me!

1 - Weak idea and presentation.

2 - Ordinary/average design and/or presentation needing fair bit of work

3 - Good concept but not quite there with execution

4 - Really good work, appealling to a lot of people, probably not something I would buy.

5 - Exceptional work which I will probably buy!

I seldom give 5 without a $.

the lowest score i gave is 3 i find no designer deserve a 0
for me 0 is a kind of insult to others work even is the piece is not very promising instead of 0 i just skip the design without scoring
well that just me

Amazing the information available to us regarding our scoring habits!

I have apparently scored over 12,200 subs, with an average of 2.93.

I don't think I underscored anyone and I certainly appreciate the blood, sweat and tears of all designers in their efforts to be printed.

I have awarded 0 points to 11 subs, 7 were exposed as stolen artwork and 4 designs offended me!

I have bought 41 tee's and 7 hoodies and I love them all!!

I used to score only 0's and 5's (probably why my avg. score is so low), but I really cannot justify that in my head anymore once I really thought about it. It's just not beneficial to anyone in the threadless community. They gave us 0-5 for a good reason.
