So far I've submitted 4 designs and they have all been denied.
My latest I really thought would make it, even though I wasn't totally satisfied with it.
(I'm still learning the programs.)

So some feedback would be nice:
Cheese!

I don't know why it would be declined, it's better than some of the accepted submissions that I've seen

Did the decline letter have any reason why? It's probably because of your file size/file proportions or you exceed the color maximum...

I know right!

I'm thinkin maybe I'm subbing them wrong, but threadless won't answer my emails askin exactly why they were declined. The auto-reply they send is extremely vague.

I REALLY hope someone at threadles reads this and puts an end to my confusion.

the size might be an issue... rather stupid that they would decline it just for that reason, but downsize it a bit and resub it.

I've seen way worse ones than that, that should have been accepted... usually the first part of the email tells you whether it was a template/color/or design issue maybe copy+paste the email here if u still cant figure it out? only the bottom half is usually vague it confused me at first until i read the top and found out it said it was a template problem

Do you really think threadless has the time to go giving people feedback or critique for every design that gets rejected?

Be realistic! These people are doing a job that they are getting paid by the hour for.

if it looks ugly at a quick glance they probably deny it, and that looks ugly at a glance. it may be just a matter of presentation which could be fixed, or maybe it's an idea they've seen a lot of times before. either way just keep trying. every design is a little better than the last.

i guess what i really need is one of you people who have had multiple subs accepted to "inspect" my subs beforehand to make sure it would be submitted correctly and/or any last minute tips on the design itself.

no offense banana, but if they are doing a job they are getting paid by the hour for, then they should actually do it and explain to people why their subs were declined.

Hello thom i have a few submitions here on threadless and most of them i think took me some time to think. What i believe is that like all things in marketing there are certain people that comes here to submit or vote or buy..but if you look close and study the designs everything has certain afinity...i belive that in a subconcious level the people of threadless choose designs that are within the parameters of the values of their brand...and to me..and thats my personal opinion now the esthethics are more important than an idea...i would suggest that you do designs for especific events, where there are guidelines and some pointers to work, what may seem like a good idea to you its not to others sometimes, but stick to your artistic xpression and it will pay off at the end. I had a submission that you can check on my profile "City Letraset" it got 2429 votes and didnt get printed...like you i thought it was gonna get printed specially with all the feedback from people. But i got dissapointed to because it was never cleared to me why it wasnt printed...how many votes do you need?or what is the real reason by wich a design is picked. i hope you keep designing and dont let this get you down. keep working and believe in your work!
peace!

to alidotony: It's not the amount of points accumulated, it's the average score they look at.

Then they make a descision based on their personal prefferences as to what they think will sell.

Some (few) low scoring designs get printed. A larger number of designs over 3 are selected.

The sheer number of voters simply means alot of people saw your design. Nothing more. (same note I posted in your blog)

Thom, just keep trying new ideas. I've had probably close to 45 designs and only 25 have made it.

One thing I noticed, my earlier works obviously weren't vectors. And If I remember correctly, your submission must be a vector (the presentation doesn't ahve to be... obviously) but it must be pretty apparent that the original design was created in illustrator or another vector shape program. Your design posted doesn't appear to be vector, maybe they latched on to that?

I'm grasping at straws here, as there's obviously a myriad of reasons they may opt for the "poor design" category. Can never tell.

It's vector alright.

It might be too pixelated. The design itself is good though.
