I am not a good addition to this blog conversation.

I wanted to go to four shows this week but I ran out of money.

if I find money, might see Tallest Man on Earth today/tomorrow (Friday)

got Fountains of Wayne & Marshall Crenshaw next week, Thermals the week after.

I wish I had the money to see Sufjan next month.

canceromega on Oct 01 '10 at 1:22am
Thermals are cool! I've only seen them once, but they were really fun.
Also, I wish I had known when Sufjan tickets went on sale because I would have paid the money for a good seat, but I can't be bothered to pay $40 for a balcony seat. :(

And I'm really looking forward to Owen Pallett again. He is one of the most talented guys I've seen play.
shakethesheets
shakethesheets on Oct 01 '10 at 1:27am
yeah Owen's incredible. I've seen him 3 times I think, and he's very very different depending on the setting.

1st time was more laid back and he had been drinking and was really fun and awesome, 2nd time was a more somber, seated venue, and he gave a great performance but really different vibe, 3rd time his equipment was a little fried from an outdoor festival the day before and a lot of stuff didn't sound quite right.

Chipmnk on Oct 01 '10 at 1:31am
DID HE PLAY OUTSIDE WHILE IT WAS RAINING???
canceromega
canceromega on Oct 01 '10 at 1:32am
The only time I've seen him sounds like your first time seeing him. It was in a really small venue, and he was paired with the Mountain Goats, and you could tell he was really enjoying himself, which made the performance ten times more enjoyable. I think this time I see him, it's going to be a bit bigger since it's in a larger venue, and he's opening for a more popular band. I'd really just like to see him be the headliner, but I haven't gotten that opportunity yet.

Tomorrow

Being both forgetful and easily amused means I'm constantly excited and surprised every time I remember I'm going to this. And holy shit it's tomorrow!

Also, I saw the Pixies last week! Let's talk about them! :):):)
I think I'm just seeing what you're seeing but with a week delay. Oh and Jonsi in October!!!

Some guy at the Pixies show said LCD Soundsystem is playing here, too. I might go to that.

Awww Jeanette. You should've went anyways!
I went to Pixies by myself and to the show this weekend by myself, but once you're there, you're not alone.

canceromega on Oct 01 '10 at 1:41am
Ahh! Pixies were awesome. I think they might do Into the White at every show, and it's definitely a highlight. I was totally blinded by the smoke machine, and it was soooo good. I think my favorite performance during the entire show was Tame, though. A really big surprise seeing as how I'm not even a huge fan of it on record.

I'm also excited for your Matador experience!! You need to tell me all about Pavement experience, and you NEED to go see Times New Viking!

mike bautista on Oct 01 '10 at 1:54am
Oh man yes the smoke was amazing! I caught some cool pictures of it. And I know exactly what you mean about Tame. I appreciate the album so much more after experiencing it live. I was sad because I wasn't on the side that Kim was on. But she came to my side when they took their bows, and I almost died of happiness. Everything she said was the best, and seeing her smiling and saying stuff and laughing inside as she thought of stuff to say was my feel good moments of the week.
And I will try and catch as much of everything on Matador weekend as I can.
Lucky you on getting to see The National!

Holy shit at that B&S curated show.
I've always wanted to go to an ATP fest.
Bramish
   Bramish on Oct 01 '10 at 2:10am
I try and go to one every year. I've never been disappointed - even if the bands aren't my absolute faves the vibe there shits on that of any other festival. So much good feeling, and sleeping in fully fitted chalets with kitchens and bathrooms rather than tents makes it even acer.

canceromega on Oct 01 '10 at 2:14am
Kim Deal is really adorable. Like, mom adorable. It's the best thing watching her play in a rock band.

ATP festivals always look so good. I remember being supremely jealous of the ATP curated by Pavement.
And how was the National? The only time I've seen them was far away, and I wasn't very into them at the time, so I don't remember a lot about it.
Bramish
   Bramish on Oct 01 '10 at 2:17am
The National's set was one of the best I've ever seen by anyone. Goosebumps throughout. I only got into them a year or so ago but they've become one of my favourite bands. I expected it to be a low key performance for the most part but the singer guy has a great stage presence and some real energy. You can tell he's in his element up there.
canceromega
canceromega on Oct 01 '10 at 12:23pm
All the videos I've seen of them are just fantastic. It's good to know that everyone I've talked to who has seen them absolutely raves about their performance. I imagine it'll be one of the better shows I see in my show-going career.

Out of curiosity, are you still playing shows, sonmi?

Also, Matt! I can't do ACL anymore either. I went in 2006 and 2007 and one day last year, but it's so awfully crowded now that I can't enjoy it anymore. I think Fun Fun Fun Fest is a much much better alternative to ACL now especially considering the lineup they put together every year.
I couldn't spend the money on Sonic Youth, and I'm jealous you're going! Have fun, though, it'll definitely be awesome.

I'm envious of you for getting to see Of Montreal.

Los Campesinos, Octopus Project, and the National are pretty awesome live.

I'm seeing Muse in a couple weeks, and Fang Island and Sleigh Bells. And maybe ingrid michaelson again.

live music is awesome.

I've tagged along to some bands I didn't know like Airborne Toxic Event, Of a Revolution and OK Go. Thy were all pretty great esp ATE cause they played in a synagogue with a string quartet. Also saw Stars TWICE and they are fucking amazing. Rodrigo y Gabriela are phenomenal too.

FR were a lot of fun, have to miss them this time around due to scheduling.

I'd like to see Andrew Bird and Ratatat but their shows tend to be $30+ and I don't like paying that much just because they're more well-known than other bands.

I didn't get a drumhead, but I got he handed me his picks and one that Lee Ranaldo left behind. I'm pretty happy about this. Ted Leo vs. Fucked Up after party was awesome, too. But I had to leave early because my knee was dead by then and I was really tired. Goodnight.

Anna would totally be my best lady.
People'd be like, "You gotta have a best man dawg. That gay." And I'd be all like, "Yo, fuck you, poopturd, I can do whatever I want! It my wedding."
And then Anna and I would smash fists and start breakdancing all over the altar.
