What do you do?
My puppy Savanna who I've had for 14 years now passed away last night and I don't really know what to do.
We took her to get cremated today and everything.
But its weird not having a dog. There's been dogs in my house as long as I can remember (Savanna's our 10th husky), and now there's none.
I don't know.
:/

I don't know, i've lost other pets like cats before.

Lyon pup almost ran away and got lost, but we always managed to find him..

Our one cat died during the winter so we couldn't bury him.

It really sucked, since he had been around since before I was born.

I still miss him.

Awwww. I'm sorry.

Our dog died when I was around five or six years old, so I don't remember much except crying a lot.

My mom lost her dog about 2 years ago. We had her for 15 years. It may sound very strange but that dog was like a sister to me. She acted like a person. I'm sorry to hear about your dog. It's always very sad. Look up 'Rainbow Bridge" on google :)

It's always really depressing at first, but you learn to move on. I've lost 10 or so dogs in my lifetime (A few got ran over (busy, hilly road), 2 or 3 got stolen, some ran away, and a few got shot by our asshole of a neighbor who should just die.) Yeah, that neighbor also shot 4 of our other dogs (3 with birdshot and one with a regular bullet.)

get a new one that looks just like the old one, and tell the kids that savannah went on a doggy vacation and came back.

I'm really really sorry. I know it's sad as hell. We had to put down our first dog last year and it was completley sad. I was able to deal with it by reminding myself that she was in a lot of pain and her quality of life had pretty much gone down the toilet. It would have been selfish of us to let her keep suffering just so we could keep her around.

I'm really so sorry to hear that - Ive lost a few animals and its so horrid.

I dont know if you are the sentimental type (I am)... but maybe doing something like I did once, which was light a candle and let it burn all night until it went out on its own, or something like that, might be a nice ritual?

what you need to do is rescue a new dog from a shelter and keep your fond memories

Im really very sorry.

I imagine it would be easier to get over if you got another dog?

I didnt want a dog because I was so scared of how i'd feel when it died, but now ive got one I like to think that when he goes i'll be able to look back and think that I gave him the best life a dog could have.

I'm sorry too. I lost my dog about 7 years ago, but I still miss her. She was the sweetest dog ever. I know we gave her a good life, and in the end she was really sick, and not a happy dog. We did the best for her. It was the same for my guinea pig. We lost him just after christmas. I know some people won't understand, but a pet is part of your family. You give and get love from them, and you nurture and care for them. It's a big thing when they die.

I'm sure you gave your dog the best life possible. Think of the happy times, and when the time is right you'll get another pet. They will never replace Savanna, but it will help to ease the pain.

tabithakristen - Rainbow Bridge made me teary, but thank you. :)

kiLLyou - I thought about seeing if we could adopt one, since I've always wanted to adopt, but I'm the only one in my family who feels that way. I don't think the rest of them want another dog, which is sad.

Thanks guys :)
