This week, GTS sat down with the Threadless Coder - Ivan. We discuss coding tips, automatic grocery delivery systems and his dog, Moscow.

GTS: Welcome back to Gettin' The Skinny. Today's guest is Ivan. How are you doing, Ivan?

Ivan: I'm doing pretty good.. ate too much at lunch.

GTS:What was for lunch?

Ivan: We all went to this Vietnamese restaurant called Tank... we frequent that place..I got #83.

GTS:What's in the #83?

Ivan: Noodles, tasty grilled beef, grilled shrimp, and some greeneries. How are you doing?

GTS:I'm doing well thanks. Ivan, please tell the GTS readers what you do at Threadless.

Ivan: I do coding for Threadless, some of them are not customer facing, such as our fulfillment system, warehousing etc.

GTS:What were you doing before you started at Threadless?

Ivan: I did web developement at a small company. That is where I actually meet Jake and Jacob.

GTS:Cool. Are there any development/coding tips that you'd care to share with folks just getting into web design/development?

Ivan: Sure.. if you are coding and feels like you're not getting anywhere or stuck... and your next door neighboor is pumping out his techno music... you know it's time to put your headphone on.... I guarantee you.. you'll be able to solve your coding problems...and that's what i'm doing right now
that is if techno bother you off course -- nothing against the music

GTS:where do you see the state of the web five or ten years from now?

Ivan: I think in 5 or 10 years.... the web will be more integerated in our lives.. getting information will be easier.... I think we already start seeing this trends now..

GTS:I'm looking forward to the day when I can call my fridge from the grocery and have it tell me what I need to get. That will be a beautiful day.

Ivan: haha. or just have your fridge upload what it needed to your grocery provider ... and have those delivered to you.

GTS:GENIUS! So it seems like Threadless' tech crew like to joke around. Have you ever been a victim of a practical joke @ work?

Ivan: oh, I'm sure I had been a victim.. but nothing comes to my mind right now.. I don't keep tabs of practical joke done on me

GTS: What do you for fun when you're not working?

Ivan: i like to do home improvement stuff, woodworking stuff like that.. i play video games, and spend times with my wife and dog Moscow

GTS: What breed is Moscow?

Ivan: He is a Husky. This was him 2 years ago : http://www.threadless.com/profile/1/skaw/blog/199620/Help_Ivan_name_his_dog. It was a community effort

GTS: I remember that blog! How is Husky doing?

Ivan: Do you? Haha.. he's doing fine.. a lot mellower now. Does not chew as much.... He is skinny, but very strong. I think I'm going to start hooking a cart behind him this summer ... and train him to pull. I'm not training for Iditarot or anything ... just something to drain his energy.

GTS: You could organize a Threadless Iditarod with all of the dogs there.

Ivan: haha. yeah.. we do have a lot of dogs..here..

GTS:What's the best part about working @ Threadless?

Ivan: definitely the people... i work with a lot of smart people.. not only that.. they are all nice.

GTS: If you could choose any two Threadless staffers to have lunch with, who would you choose and why?

Ivan: hehe.. why two if I can eat lunch with all of them.

GTS:Ahh, very slick answer. speaking of slick, can you drop any hints as to next week's tees?

Ivan: It's going to 'glow' your mind for sure...

GTS: ooooooh dang! what are some of your recent favorite tees?

Ivan: i like http://www.threadless.com/product/1762/Arctic_Howl .. from this week
the Capital is also nice http://www.threadless.com/product/1750/The_Capital

GTS: I've got some questions from my fellow bloggers, ready?

Ivan: yup

GTS: scottv asked: Can you really solve a rubik's cube with your feet?
haha.. that's not a blogger !!!! that's scott!!! but i will answer anyway

Ivan: Yes, if time is not the essence!

GTS: jess4002 asked: What's your favorite fruit to eat? Drink? Wear? Play with?

Ivan: favorite fruit... hmm.. I like Mango, but there is the fruit, not common in the US, called Durian. It's a spiky fruit the size of basketball or volleyball. Some people does not like the smell of it. But it's awesome. Its really good made as a smoothie. I once brought one to work at Threadless -- not a crowd pleaser. Here's a reference for peeps who are interested http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Durian. I wear Tees.. plus hoodies during the cold months.

GTS: TheInfamousBaka wants to know: Would you rather get mauled by a bear or a killer whale?

Ivan: mauled by a bear .. I think, at least I can try fighting it first ...

GTS: Good call, unless you've got a harpoon and a strong throwing arm, you've got no chance against a whale.

Ivan: haha. yeah...these days harpoon cost alot.

GTS: You got that right! Ivan, it's time to play Pick One™ Are you familiar with this segment?

Ivan: haha. i like the ™. yes.. i think so.

GTS: All excellent choices. Ivan, sadly our time is up for this installment of Gettin' The Skinny.

Ivan: Excellent questions...... That was awesome. Thanks for inviting me.

Ivan: Chris Cote - he is the newest member of the tech crew. And folks...please...Nude No More.
