Ripoff design

about Summer Wind

This girl on this shirt is straight from an Anberlin shirt that can be seen at https://www.shopbenchmark.net/site/anberlin/ under Limited Time Sale. Anberlin may have gotten it somewhere else as well, but this designer didn't create it.

Are you aware that the design on this shirt is almost 5 and a half years old? So it was probably made before the one you're referencing?

I can't say that for sure, but I'd say it's likely that if there was a rip-off, it was the other way around.

This design was first submitted to Threadless on June 25 2002.
Anberlin was formed in 2002. I doubt they began making these shirts as soon as they formed.

...but this designer didn't create it.
I don't understand how you can explain this. I don't know for sure, but as of now it seems that this design was first bought by Threadless.
Maybe the designer did steal it. Maybe they are both stolen. Maybe the face is from ClipArt, like someone else has stated, I don't know. But I definitely do not know how you can rule out so easily that Joachim Baan is the original creator of this design. Please explain.

If they're not same artist I'd guess they were both vectored off the same source image. It seems unlikely to me that someone at anberlin would take the time to articulate the white space of the face and shoulders but outright steal the upper half of the head. The vector work on the Threadless tee is also pretty well done. My guess is that there's an original photo that is the true parent to both designs.

Okay, what is really strange, and I don't know who came up with this "girl" first but a GAP shirt that I bought a while ago has this same girl on it. When I bought it it was in clearance and was only a couple dollars, so i assume it was kinda old for being in the store.
