Lloyd Alexander?
In Lloyd Alexander's book The Remarkable Journey of Prince Jen, there is a chinese painter who has a magical ink stone. He paints a field, and then a tiger comes to life out of the painting. This shirt definitly reminds me of that book, and it makes me really happy.
