That poster was for a Hurricane Katrina benefit concert, this shirt design was submitted in 2003, two years before Katrina. It's a simple idea that I've seen repeated quite a few times (that I only became aware of after printing, if that needs be said). I bought a book of trademark designs published in the 1970's from a used book store last year and in it was another depiction of an umbrella stopping rain as represented by lines. And that probably wasn't the earliest example of this kind of design, either.
