why is he so small, is it Tom Cruise?
fatheed
   fatheed on Sep 04 '11 at 3:15pm
Haha! He was bigger, but the car looked too small. If there's a consensus, then I'll make some edits. Thanks!
fatheed
   fatheed on Sep 04 '11 at 3:16pm
Yeah I spose he needs to be bigger. Ta!

Fixed, I think.

fatheed

both, really. I've already fixed it following one crit.

I think the others are so good because there is a "holy hell he wont survive" kinda feel, whereas this still feels a little too easy for our ninja hero so I guess perhaps more zombies or something big lurking like the Tank from left 4 dead or one of those big resident evil guys. The foggy scene and the car look spot on otherwise.
fatheed
   fatheed on Sep 04 '11 at 4:00pm
Yeah I know what you mean. I guess for this one, I didn't really want a epic, cinematic scenario - just a much creepier one.

I wanted to do something using mist/fog for this horror comp - on the principle that not being able to fully see something or how many of them there are fully makes it more terrifying.

I wan't trying to 1-up The Horde, just a kind of a spin in a different direction.
fatheed
   fatheed on Sep 04 '11 at 4:01pm
An I want more Silent Hill than Left 4 Dead. The original Horde was much more L4D
randyotter3000
   randyotter3000 on Sep 04 '11 at 4:09pm
ah ok fair enough that invalidates most of what I said really lol something big/ominous lurking near the back would be cool tho if you could fit it in
sweet n sour
   sweet n sour on Sep 04 '11 at 4:10pm
yeah I think that's better

how about some vanquished zombies or something behind him in the foreground, maybe his wife and their baby behind the car or just a baby in a push-chair shogun assassin style.

i reckon the car could look rougher. maybe a number sprayed on the door and a hubcap missing, but it looks great as it is. i just like to interfere.

I think his stance is a bit too stiff. I want a bit more "bring it on"

What if you actually added some fog in there? It could help with the eerie-ness of it.

Man what I wouldn't give to get my hands on this scene. Love the atmosphere.

i like aaron's idea of a distant giant creeper in the back. Add some smurfs, it could use the blue.

Cheers.

That's a nice, touch, hippo. I like that.

My original sketch included a woman holding a child and a revolver in her left hand because the scene is arranged in a way that it kind of made to have someone hiding behind the car. It made for a much more interesting narrative - but I figured it might be too much.
fatheed
   fatheed on Sep 04 '11 at 5:12pm
Yeah I wanted solid spot colours but seeing as I started to distress/halftone the print with the fog on the zombies, I might as well give it an all-over fog.

   fatheed on Sep 04 '11 at 7:03pm
I listened to you, Joe - and I changed the stance slightly by raising the arms but I wasn't digging it. It's not meant to be quite as gung-ho as the Horde.

More sort of understated and patient. Like he knows he has to work his way through them with as little noise and fuss as possible. You dig?

I like the woman and child idea. Maybe it's coz I'm a mum it makes the whole scene scarier for me knowing she is obviously so vulnerable right there in that moment trying to protect her child.

Thank everyone. Trying out all these fixes. I've put the lady and kid back in. I thiiiink I made it work

Just doing the grass, then I'll try out the tank zombie. See if that's gonna fly. Then hopefully, I'll make the deadline.

If you're wanting more of a hopeless or perilous situation giving the car a flat and the hero mundane weapons could help. Perhaps a tire iron?

The End Of The Road

Updatez. I tried it with the zombie Tank, and it was kinda funny (pushing zombie out of the way) but with the kid and the chick in there too there's just too much going on and it was a bit comical - or a bit confusing for people, potentially.

Gave them a flat tire - even though they were already out of gas!

I fogged up the moon already but as the fog is the tee colour, all it does is fade the moon further.

I changed the grass up. Hopefully you find this more to your liking.
speedyjvw
   speedyjvw on Sep 04 '11 at 11:14pm
I meant like a cloud blocking the moon, or like a gradient from the bottom up
fatheed
   fatheed on Sep 04 '11 at 11:16pm
it was the first thing I did after drawing the moon and I prefer it like this - just faint through the fog. I still respect you though.

I want to know what people think of the hiding child and woman.

They have just 2 bullets left. You know what she has to do if our hero is overwhelmed.

I like the presence of the girl and the boy. I think they fit.

Also, this will print by the time season 2 of The Walking Dead is on. You've got it all sorted out!
