So, supposedly a group of terrorrists were planning on blowing up the Sears Tower in Chicago today. Not only that, they were going to launch an all out battle on the ground and kill as many people as possible. They even called for artillery. Even though it didn't fall through, just the idea alone is extremely unsettling.

Well it was overhyped for sure, they said it was full of holes and there were financial issues. It's just the idea. I mean, for real, how do they come up with this stuff?

This stuff is worrying, but I'm convinced a lot of it is fabricated by the government, both in the UK and the US. I'm very suspicious of these reports these days.
nadeau_david
nadeau_david on Aug 25 '06 at 5:47pm
Well yeah, the skyscraper was just part of it. They were going to mobilize a ground force with artillery and everything. They sounded serious but their cell was a complete joke. Even so, it's very creepy.

Which brings up a good point, shirt flirt. Why the fuck are we all over the place fighting terrorism? Afghanistan, fine, okay. Iraq... what the hell? Now we are getting all in Iran's shit, too, and we have no justification. WMD's my ass. I think we need to focus more on the defense rather than the offense.

I was at a party earlier this month and there was a chocolate fountain-fondue thing and I put up a sign next to it that said, "Trey [a friend of mine] double-dipped in the chocolate fountain."

I am a fear-monger.

there's a larger, global economic development that the news media is choosing to not cover. iran and north korea and china have become increasingly close. iran's leader is a nutjob, but he's charismatic, like b clinton, and he can persuade his people to go against the west despite iran's very modernized culture.

in the end, america will be seen as an experiment of individual happiness that went awry bc of capitalist.

the trade center was probably reason 99 out of 100 why we invaded.

but in all seriousness, did anyone see the cspan (yes, i occasionally watch it) with the group that believes the government was behind 9/11 and that there's no way that planes could have taken down the towers? government placed explosives and such...

Yeah I saw that, FringedGinger. Really creepy stuff. There's even footage on it and everything showing where the supposed explosives were placed. Did anyone watch that special on 9/11 that was aired in November or December 2001? The one with footage from the perspective of the firefighters?

Yeah you're right, because Australia has never been dragged into one of America's messes.
shirtflirt
shirtflirt on Aug 25 '06 at 6:02pm
well, that's one way to look at david. however, the only way the terrorists(america's gov and britain's gov) is to not live with the fear they put out. seriously. when they scare you, they can move you where you never thought you'd go.

just continue to pursue the things that deep down bring you harmony.
FringedGinger
FringedGinger on Aug 25 '06 at 6:02pm
i thought you might be, shirtflirt.

i don't know how i feel about it. like, the cynic in me says to believe it, but the little girl in me wants to believe that our government wouldn't do something so terrible like that. it's scary.
shirtflirt
shirtflirt on Aug 25 '06 at 6:05pm
it is scary.

but you have to realize one thing, elections are an illusion. there is no electing political officials; they are appointed by outside influences; mainly the banks that got america out of it's bankruptcy post ww1.

america is owned by a few intelligent bankers.

nadeau_david
nadeau_david on Aug 25 '06 at 6:06pm
Yeah, that's true, I mean how can a person live with constant fear day to day? That's what the terrorists want and maybe even the US government, who knows. It's just extremely unsettling when you hear about these terror attempts on innocent lives. Guess it's better to just take it as it comes though.
bananaphone

(I'm not even talking conspiracy theories either, America has a long long history of interfereing in other countries including assassinating foreign leaders)

agreed. i'm so frustrated and angry with the direction that we're going.
