Is it maximum 4 colors???

Just to check about one of the Threadless rules, maximum 4 colors:
does it mean every single color is a color or the same color in deferent gradient is also one color ,

e.g (dark gray> gray>light gray) + red + green + blue... can I say that this is 4 color or is it 7 colors total..

I saw alot of the design more than 4 colors and some of it won...

that's 7. you may use 4 colours only. tints and gradients don't count.

or rather i should say tints and gradients are counted as seperate colours.

you can use up to 4 inks plsu the shirt color so you may have seen some designs that looked like 5 colors...

Running a high fever or having an acid trip are also reasons for 5+ color confusion.

Shades are not allowed.

Imagine this: American Flag on a white shirt, the stars don't need white paint, so it's only 2 colors.

the swatch shirt shows how you can get the most outta the 4 colors. from further away it looks like a full array of colors. im suprised no one has tried to use this since the template was made...

the select tees are not required to have a maximum of 4 colors. I believe the artists are called on by threadless who ask for a select tee. Im sure you can read on about this in an older post.

yeah, use lines of color to depict lighter shades and mox the colors closely to make a darker appearance.

Keep their printing process in mind though, you don't want .25 hairlines that won't show up.
