Hoping that someone from Canada, (Ontario specifically) (Toronto more specifically) who has ordered product from threadless could tell me if there is any extra cost coming across the border.

I really want to get some shirts but I had ordered clothes from a company in the states before and got a nasty surprise when my order ended up costing quite a bit more than expected.

so again, if someone in ontario who has ordered shirts could tell me what their experience was, extra costs etc.. That would be Great! (and I would love you forever)

So please help me figure out if I can budget for some threadless Tees.

Thanks in advance,
e

I live in Toronto, too, and I find that when I place multiple shirts in one order, I get dinged for customs. Not a whole lot, mind you, but enough to be sorely miffed. When I order one shirt at a time, I find that they come within 10 business days with no customs collection.

I've also taken to sacrificing virginal lambs to the Canada Customs God, and this appears to be helping.

Hope this helps you out and happy shopping! :)

Hey, thanks squintygirl. Any idea how they calculate whether you pay or not anyways? I imagine that the 'eney meney miney moe' policy may be in effect.

p.s. I've been a voyeur on the blogs for a while, finally starting to participate more. I've noticed you are quite active. So I'd just like to say thanks for that and being a great addition to the community.

I think the limit is somewhere in the $20-30 range. If you're buying regular price, you're probably better off getting them one by one to get faster delivery and avoid customs. If you're getting them during a $10 sale, you should be able to get away with two shirts, as Threadless writes down only what you've actually paid as the customs value. (So 1 $10 shirt would be listed as $10 US value.)

I have no idea how they calculate the rate when they charge customs, but I do know that it's based on what is marked as the value of the whole package.

I guess that rustling in the bushes outside my bedroom window was you! :)

dang, busted. lol

I looked it up. And THIS is how they calculate duties.

not 'eney meney miney moe', 'guess a number', 'roll of the die' or 'darts' as I had previously beleived. 'cus knowledge is power!

Jeez, calculating duties looks a right fun job to me. I'd go with 'eenie meenie miney moe' anytime.
