Hi all. With all the artists, designers and creative minds up on threadless I thought I'd put out a little inquiry....

I am trying to help out my boyfriend who is looking to become a tattoo artist. He's currently a freelance illustrator but wants to get into art full time via tattoos. He has brought some equipment and has started practicing on his own (and he's actually really good!) but wants to learn hands on with someone who is more experienced. We live in Queens, New York.

Does anyone know of any tattoo artists who are looking for an apprentice or would be open to having one and work in New York City?

Please respond with any advice or tips. Thanks in advance for your help! :)

..ah well seriously, good luck, I once thought about the profession but realized that I couldn't handle the customers who were after the black panther or rose tattoo.

he should practice on hams and turkeys and when christmas rolls around he could charge a fortune for them.

Tell him to try it on pig skin, closest thing to human skin anyway. They didn't test A-bomb effects on pig skin for nothing.

He should contact his nearest abattoir.

Have you heard about that artist in China who has tattooed a bunch of pigs and opened the farm to the public?

On Miami Ink the apprentice practiced on a pig.

A local tattooist worked on his own forearms. I don't know whether that was for practice or not, though.
