about Byebi
unsure why i couldn't even post a sentence in a comment. perhaps it had something to do with firefox as my browser? maybe someone has an idea. anyway, not that anyone cares, but here was my interpretation for the shirt (which i like and i hope to purchase it eventually):

the second bird, with his ersatz cog and wheel heart and fractured words (i

oh here we go i hope:

the second bird, with his ersatz cog and wheel heart and fractured words (i 'heart' u) is incapable of forming the organic word 'bye' because he is a fractured inorganic bird. he will never be a complete bird such as his counterpart. his mind is corrupted (hence the wheel), his emotions (hence the cog) and even how he communicates (hence the ersatz speech). he's only half a bird. his other half, although which allows him to function, does not allow him to be a complete organic structure for he is wounded to the core. perhaps something analogous in a human relationship would be someone who is suffering from ptsd or who suffered from a severely debilitating surgery. perhaps an amputee or a war veteran. this inability to function organically ended the relationship between the whole bird and himself because he can never be what the other bird is again.

I want to say something to commend your for your efforts at sharing this insight with us. But nothing I say would express our gratitude.

So instead I will say: spark plug.

if only threadless had let me delete the aborted failed attempts *blush*

but thanks to the people who didn't make me feel more embarrassed than i already was about it. somehow it was just all the times i couldn't post it made me uh. need to post it for some reason. then afterwards i was like ... oh ... oh no. it all started really as kind of a nonchalant answer to the person who said he didn't get the shirt. people were offering kind of offbeat interpretations and that was mine.

Haha, I like that interpretation... although I doubt the designer was thinking about anything like that. Your comments on the shirt make me want it even more though, haha :)
